NOT A 4 STAR...NOT EVEN A 3 STAR: DO NOT GO The hotel room was stuffy with a lot of dust, the chairs were stained, so was the carpet. The towels are worn out and have yellow stains. The noise insulation is absent. The headboard of the bed is stained as well. I have photos upon request if a manager ever see this and dare to contact me. Glad we booked just one night

Right smack dab in the middle of things. Rooms vary. I had a king with a quiet garden area view. Hotel seems geared to the millennial set. If you don't check-in on line, head to the bar for help. Breakfast available as well as bar food. Water refill stations on floors. They'll sell you an empty bottle if you forget yours. Steps from Gare Montparnasse. More restaurants than you can dine at in a week. Walk to the catacombs. RER to both airports nearby. Luxembourg Gardens just a 15 minute walk across Montparnasse Blvd.

The no.1 stand-out quality of the hotel was its staff. No other hotel has come close for their resourcefulness, empathy, kindness and joviality. There are lovely touches here and you feel they are genuine, not just pandering to the zeitgeist. The key-cards and door hangers are wooden not plastic. There is no machine selling bottles of drinks. Instead there is a free water cooler on every floor and reusable bottles available at reception. The room was spotless, spacious and comfortable. I'm a disabled person it was great to be in a specially adapted "accessible" room which didn't feel like an old-people's home or a hospital clinic. The bathroom was safe and easy to manoeuvre around, in fact the whole hotel was. There seems to be a whole floor for disabled guests with an extra wide corridor. When my electric wheelchair broke, they rallied round with help and the hotel handiman Alexi was fantastic in mending it. The location is great for the train station. The road is filled with Asian restaurants and French bistros are only a few hundred meters away. Families with children be aware that one end of the street has several "Adult" venues. I recommend entering from the other direction. IMPORTANT: The other Mercure in Montparnasse has exactly the same name on google earth and on several booking sites. Take care you arrive to the one on rue de la Gaite!

Disappointing Stay

My stay at Mercure Paris Gare Montparnasse was disappointing. The cleanliness of the rooms left much to be desired, the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, and the food was of poor quality. The pictures online were misleading, painting a far better picture than the reality of the hotel. Overall, I would not recommend staying here.

Rude, unhelpful staff. Deposit not returned after two months.

Staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful. In addition I still haven't got my deposit back after two months and repeated calls and e-mails from my company and the travel agency I booked through. Also the rooms and small for the price you pay. I definitely wouldn't go there again.
