Quite a decent hotel, very very far from the busy area which is Gran Via and surrounds....stay here only if you can't afford another hotel in a busy area or if you are in Madrid for a specific reason. Transport to and from the main area very expensive for a family of 5 as smaller taxi's don't take more than 4 passengers. Rather use the extra taxi fare that you would pay, for a hotel in a better area. Another thing I found annoying is there is no porter to help with luggage. Requested a cup to the room, receptionist suggested we collect ourself in order not to be charged. In my years of travelling, haven't experienced service like this. Not sure if it's just a 'Europe thing' ?

Nice Room and an Excellent Restaurant

This hotel is located in a quieter area of Madrid. It has an excellent restaurant having a lot of dishes prepared on charcoal: I liked the food very much. I got a very nice room with a very good view. The staff was very helpful when I was in need.

Appalling response to urgent lost-passport situation

We accidentally left a passport bag (4 passports + 2 U.S. green cards) in the locker. We called ~50 times—no answer. When we reached the front desk, they said only the housekeeping manager could handle lost items and refused to assist, despite us providing a designated local contact with ID who was already en route. We explained that our family—including two young children—would be stranded without these documents. Still no action. Only after threatening to involve the police did the hotel retrieve the bag. This was a clear failure of duty of care, basic responsiveness, and common sense. Travelers should expect timely, compassionate help in emergencies; we received the opposite.

Kept getting locked out of my room, 3 trips back/forth to refresh the key. The hotel itself lacks character. Pool was busy and not smoke-free. It’s far from a metro connection or sights of interest.

Underwhelming and disappointing

Completely underwhelmed by our stay at this hotel. It's advertised as Novotel but it's actually Ibis on the first couple of floors and Novotel above but with combined facilities. The check in is bizarre with no desk meaning if the staff don't welcome you, which they don't, you are just left standing. Our credit card was taken on check in but we couldn't charge anything back to our room. We still don't understand why. We had one meal here only and we completely ignored waiting for a menu even though we'd had a couple of drinks on the outside terrace during the afternoon. The average meal arrived but we had to ask for cutlery. If you are an Accor customer that appreciates a Novotel standard then don't stay here. Its only saving grace was that the room was comfortable and the air conditioning and shower worked well. Also, if you're here as a tourist, this hotel is 30 minutes away from the main attractions by bus and there are no decent restaurant options around the hotel to eat at.
