Great service and an interesting location.

Excellent all round experience. Stayed one night whilst driving back to UK from Spain.. Rooms were great. Not sure about the glass wall that can be made clear to see into the shower but it was fun for a minute. Ate in the shopping centre as the restaurant was going to be busy with a large group booking. Breakfast was good. Shame there was no bacon to go with the sausages and eggs but not a major problem. Plenty of choice and all very nicely presented and looked fresh. Great service by the team. Thank you for sorting out the interconnecting rooms. Recommended!

Worth Novotel I had so far

The Swimming pool is not clean and was over crowded, the restaurant was terrible and over crowded as well, the room was not clean with some suspect first in the wall. I will strongly not recommend this hotel despite the location (close to the musée)

Not family friendly

Advertises as a family friendly hotel. Sadly there is a manager who lacks charm, empathy and basic manners who is rude to mothers with children in areas where children are playing nicely. The bar service is also slow and exceptionally overpriced. The hotel is also situated in a fairly rough area, making walking around with a pram or small children undesirable. The only positive is that the cleaning staff have been excellent, polite and thorough. Anyone staying be warned they will charge 18 euros for breakfast, including for toddlers, with VAT added. Nigh on 37 euros for a mother and toddler. Parking is also 12 euros a day, during our stay my car door has been damaged because the spaces are so tight (another car had whacked my rear passenger door when opening their door).

Pretty awful hotel

First impressions count for a lot. Let's start with the parking, access is complicated with no helpful information as to what to do, the spaces are fine if you have a very small car otherwise you risk expensive damage on pillars. Reception is haphazard at best. Long queue, harassed staff, no English spoken, and room not what was ordered. The room is desperately ordinary. Made up for a family, but only two of us. Reception not willing to change it around so we have. Carpet not hoovered, light not working, one teabag, I very much doubt any attention is paid to covid protection. We stay in lots of places all over the world, some cheap, some expensive and are well aware that this is at the budget end of the scale, but this does not excuse a lacklustre room, poor cleaning and uncaring, unhelpful, staffing. The one teabag was accompanied by only one one milk which although ridiculous is strangely logical. I went downstairs to remedy (no point in phoning) a manager was helpful but unable to find any milk, he was bailed out by a barman who knew where to look. Had it not been for the horrendous traffic and the fact we are only here 1 night we would definitely have checked out to find something/anything better. Take the advice of a very experienced traveller, stay somewhere else.

Business hotel not meeting potential

The hotel is situated on the outskirts of the tourist area of Lyon and would be much more suited to professionals with work in the neighbouring areas or attending conferences. The hotel decor is nicely presented with a modern artistic tone in the lobby area. The welcome at reception was friendly but a little disorganised and the inexperience of the receptionist was apparent. This led to the wrong room being issued, incorrect breakfast time shared and and over charge for the included breakfasts. The 2nd room (double) on first glance was beautifully presented and clean and much more desirable than the 1st room (twin) The bed was large and comfy and the amenities were welcomed i.e. tea/coffee, fridge, seating area etc. The bathroom was also large with a magnificent walk in shower. However upon living in the room it is the lack of attention to detail from the designers which become apparent. There was only 1 available plug which was beside the bed and on the opposite side from the seating area. As a business hotel you must then do your work from the bed. I asked at reception for an extension lead but they did not have, so I purchased from the supermarket. Another irregularity was the soap dispenser in the bathroom which was not located over the sink or vanity and instead on the side wall which inevitably means soap drips to the floor. The taps, modern and lovely as they were, are situated inside the sink which means you can't fit both hands together under the water to wash. Also, in such a large room the toilet was positioned tight to the wall and so high that for a person of 5'7 only my tippy toes touched the ground. The side of the shower tray trim was also missing. The TV had but 1 English channel. Picky I know, but at that standard and price, expectations are higher. The breakfast was very well done with a large offering of different foods to suit everyone. The food itself was stunning and tasted delicious. It felt back to the good old days before Covid. The dining area was lovely and with nice decor and attentive staff. The area of the hotel is quiet however there is a supermarket close by and a few very nice restaurants. The tourist areas can be reached by bus or metro or a 40 minute walk. Overall this is a nice hotel with potential but some attention to detail is needed.
