Good Hotel for Breda

Great hotel for business around Breda. Super friendly staff & good food in the restaurant. Rooms could do with a little modernising, but have all that you need as well as an espresso machine. About a 45 min walk into Breda centre (or 5 mins in a taxi).

You arrive at the reception and the first question after a brief hello is if you came by car. As the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, I guess everybody comes by car, unless they come with a coach tour. "That would be 7.50€ extra, thank you very much, and we charge you a city tax. Please pay now." Not, for example, And how are you today ? A hotel that makes you feel like a cash cow has a serious management issue. I then went to the bar to get a beer (the "welcome" drink). It was the size of a tequila shot. Asking for a normal sized glass of beer, it was refused. Maybe I don't deserve a normal beer as I am only silver member ? I would've paid for it, that's not the issue of course, but for a guest to be told we won't give you one is just crazy. I did not have breakfast, I only need a cup of coffee, and for this it was way way too expensive. The room was fine, the bed comfortable and I slept well. But the way they treat you upon arrival does not inspire me to give more stars.

Poor stay

In the outskirts of town parking at extra cost despite being in the middle of nowhere. Easy to reach by car. Old building but renovated rooms Standard Novotel rooms. I had a dinner and despite waiting 35 minutes the meat was good. Service good as well. I had two major issues though: the old building doesn’t help with soundproofing and the vent in the toilet kept going all night long and this was noisy and spoiled my night. On top of that one of the worst breakfasts I had in years in an hotel of this standard. Look at the pictures and if you travel much like me you get the point. Funny enough they didn’t even had English breakfast black Tea! And when I asked for it the guy in charged seemed annoyed by my request and answered - this is what we have !!!

Quiet location

Big and cosy rooms with a nice homely feeling. Still remember their angular windows. Very nice garden and location. Absolutely quiet and blissfull. Their breakfast buffet was very good ,even for a vegetarian like me. Loved the food and tea options.

Not a four star experience, generally bad

The good thing was that the room was adequate and quiet and there were some helpful staff. Unfortunately, not all. More unfortunate is that this is where the good stuff ends. The room was not clean on arrival. The curtain was stained, the door had what seemed to be coffee spots and there was brown slush in the mini fridge. Cleaning the room was problematic for the full two weeks of my stay. It hardly happened at all and only got done properly once after I personally instructed the cleaners on what needed to be done. And then again, it all got neglected the days after that. So, no improvement either. The bathroom sink was never cleaned. Neither was the wall of the shower or the fridge. The bed top cover just gets pulled straight while the bedsheet is not even tucked in. Worse, when it was no longer clean, it never got replaced until I insisted on it. The senior receptionist did not seem interested to resolve any problems. My complaints were listened to and then completely ignored. She was only interested in deflecting and profit. My request to report the complaints to management were completely ignored. On top of that, the room was uncomfortably hot. The airconditioning does not allow for individual room cooling. The good news is that the system is being renovated and that this problem should be resolved in the near future. Some staff can’t be bothered to even try and help. It seems to be too much to ask to get even clean towels and forget about making the bed. While others go out of their way to make up for those mistakes. You might get lucky if you meet up with the right staff members at the right time. The hotel is rated as a four star hotel. But the facilities barely allow for a three star rating. There is no gym, no additional toiletries and definitely no consistently high standard staff. In general, I will never come back here again. I will not recommend this hotel for anyone planning to stay more than one or two days maximum.
