Having a test certificate from Spain when the QR code on the certificate cannot be read in France and then be restricted to the usage of facilities makes zero sense. The certificate indicates NEGATIVE. Because the QR code cannot be read due to some technological problem and then restricting clients shows very poor customer service!

We would like to apologize, but the rules in France are that you have to be equiped with a valid QR code to go to the restaurant. We will be happy to see you again in better circumstances. "La loi c'est la loi" or "The law is the law" or the Rule is the Rule...was the answer of the Manager a certain Romane Denni when she refused the validity of our Belgian Certificates giving the proof that my wife an me werre legally vaccinated in Belgium . She even refused to have look at our papers under the pretext that the Euro Digital Card Certificate was not completely in order ( indeed one page was missing...). We went to our two rooms and then we tried once again to draw the attention of this Lady that we were in order according to the law in all sincerity and genuine but it was absolutely useless. She held her position : my wife must remain in the room and my three Fench grandchidren and I were entirely free to enjoy the hotel being in order withe the complete paper ( 2 pages instead of one for my wife). Then we paid the 265 Euros bill and we left this hotel. In my whole life I've never met such an uncompromising person. Maybe to end the story useful to mention that the day before in Nancy we enjoyed a amazing stay in a Hotel Ibis member of the network Accor and without any problem. So about the Novotel Route des Grand crus : Such a bad experience ...never again.

OK for just one night; whilst travelling South to North. Slightly dissapointing stay; not the Novotel standards we are used to. Rooms were clean and adecuate but noisy, very small and not very elegant (even though we booked a 'superior' class, I fear for the standard rooms). Breakfast also rather minimal.

Better and worse

With many trips to Italy, we have often stayed here. It is especially good in warmer months when our young children could swim in the pool , play table tennis, or just plat in the large area outside. It was refurbished last year. Admittedly the decor was becoming jaded. It is certainly fresher and the shower room was brilliant. However, the toilet was wonky as it was mounted on a crooked floor. The bed was too close to the wall and my wife bashed her head on the wall when she got up too quickly at night. The desk has been replaced by a wire-shelving arrangement that looks scrappy. As usual, the food is passable but a bit greasy and, our fault for eating it all, a bit too much. Must have starters and not mains next time. The staff, as always, are excellent. Lovely people.

Location is fine, not far from the motorway. The room was quiet and comfortable and we enjoyed the dinner in the restaurant. A good stop between Northern Spain and The Netherlands. We would stay here again.

I will return with thanks however the price is a bit high compared with other nice hotels in the area... Good bed, nice shower, big TV-screen - however never used it. Friendly stuff. Housekeeping forgot to fill up, but the colleagues at the reception corrected it immediately.

Despite being a family of four and Platinum members of the Accor Club we were only provided with one welcome drink to share! All other hotels provide a welcome drink per person and when challenged they flatly refused. At breakfast the staff could not be seen and seemed to be in the back away from customers. When we did see them we had to ask for the breakfast items to be replenished as they had run out but they weren't checking. Despite our breakfast being on 13th August there were two yogurts with a date of 7th August and two yogurts with a date of 30th July, it seems that these go in and out of the fridge each day and no one checks the dates.

Overall the hotel and our stay was fine, but I have stayed in better Novotel hotels. The room was a little smaller than usual and bed seemed unusually hard/firm. Common areas were nice and modern but I thought the food was over priced for what it was and service was very slow. We had a hungry two year with us and it took about 45 mins from ordering for her food (a bowl of pasta) to arrive and even then that was only after I chased. Would definitely use Novotel again but not sure this one would be anywhere near the top of my list!

Fantastic stopover

Wanted somewhere 5-6 hours south of Calais as a stopover on our way further south. Found this gem, in SW Dijon, just off all major routes south (autoroute verte or A6) Recent refurb has given the place a fantastic lift. Staff couldn't be more helpful. Buffet breakfast was extensive, including cook your own eggs station. Outdoor pool was very welcome as was the outside space to enjoy drinks/food whilst overlooking the pool. Will definitely stay again.

Really kind and attentive staff. Great facilities for the kids. Really good restaurant. Pool most welcome after 5 hour car journey. Easy to pop into Dijon and see sights. Simple diversion to access when heading South.

Crowded hotel with non-working airco

We selected this hotel because it was perfectly located on our way to the south of France, but it was a dissapointment. It was during the high season and to be honest, during a heatwave. Though this shouldn't be a problem. When entering the hotel, don't expect a classic lobby with a reception desk. In the middle of the room there's a unaccomponied desk with a desktop and a bell... We had to wait a few minutes before someone noticed us so we could check in.

Nice welcome on arrival, clean hotel, nice room, pleasant staff and a good dinner. The hotel is in a good location and easily found. There is a small gym room that we didn't use but noticed others made use of it.
