My friends and I were required to pay the remaining amount of the stay at the hotel. While all our credit cards and debit cards do not require PIN for payment, the credit card terminals at your hotel required PIN to proceed and most of our cards were rejected, including visa, mastercard and even Apple Pay. The three of us literally tried every card that we have and finally one worked through apply pay. We also contacted the bank and the bank said no PIN is required for our credit cards. Usually we can just skip the PIN and proceed to the payment but this didn’t work at your hotel. As a global hotel brand, I struggle to understand why matters trivial as such could occur and I never expect credits cards to be rejected by big hotel groups. We urge your hotel to review the applicability and quality of your credit cards machines and figure out how to address cards with no PIN.

The situation you described regarding card authorisation is clearly frustrating, particularly when multiple internationally issued Visa, Mastercard, and digital wallet payments were declined due to PIN requirements. Please allow me to clarify that in Uzbekistan, banking regulations and terminal configurations are governed by local acquiring banks, and in certain cases, the system is set to default to Chip-and-PIN authentication for foreign cards. That said, this explanation does not diminish the inconvenience you experienced. We have escalated your case to our financial partner to review terminal configuration, contactless limits, and fallback authorisation procedures for cards without PIN functionality. As part of the Accor network, we fully agree that payment processing should be seamless and globally compatible. Your feedback has triggered an internal audit of our POS setup to prevent recurrence. Additionally, we apologise that the promised restaurant reservation follow-up was not completed. This represents a service lapse in communication, and we are reinforcing internal accountability within the Front Office team to ensure that commitments made to guests are consistently delivered and confirmed. The staff at the front desk were top notch all the time: always ready to help, always professional, and even sophisticated. You knew you were in good hands the minute you started to check in. The spa was absolutely gorgeous, and I had it all to myself for up to three hours at a time. The design of the swimming pool was absolutely amazing, a perfect example of Neo-Uzbek design--a mesmerizing experience swimming and relaxing in that space! The lobby is gorgeous. There were a great many beautiful touches, so whoever put this beautiful hotel together should get some award for it. I have no complaints and was deeply satisfied with the hotel and its amenities. I say this as a global traveler with over fifty years of travel experience worldwide. The hotel was perfectly situated on good old Samarqand Street in Bukhara's Old City, so you had nice little neighborhood walks to the amazing architectural sites.

The most comfortable stay in my trip. I felt like a royalty. The service provided by the staff was exceptional and they were very accommodating kudos to timur for always not feeling to smile and greet every guest at the hotel. To the housekeeping, thank you so much for leaving me chocolates after making my room that was a kind gesture and it even made me feel more like home overall I would say this has been the best feeling in my entire trip

A comfortable hotel but still many things need to be improved for that price range. There was a power cut throughout the whole evening, and the power generator was extremely loud outside our room. Breakfast lacked quality. Spa facilities like steam room and sauna would suddenly stop working. All these are not huge problems normally, but they become when considering you pay premium.

Mercure Bukhara Old Town is the best Accor hotel I stayed at during my recent Uzbekistan trip. The building is thoughtfully designed and created a courtyard on Level 1, featuring a pond (without water in winter) and a tree at the centre. Surrounded by brick arches decorated with local patterns, the courtyard leaves a strong impression at first glance. The lobby is also well designed and tastefully decorated. The basement pool is particularly stunning, recreating a Turkish-style ambience while offering modern facilities. The lady in charge of the pool and gym is very friendly and polite. The restaurant on Level 3 is cozy and nicely decorated as well. The breakfast spread exceeded my expectations, and the lunch and dinner menu offers many good options. We had two meals there, both with fantastic service, which I truly appreciated. The room is spacious and includes a separate living area with a TV and couch. This means I couldn’t watch TV while lying in bed, but it’s something easy to adapt to and not a major issue at all. The bathroom does not have a bathtub, but it is spacious and features a narrow window that provides good ventilation. What I must not forget to mention is the welcoming and friendly staff. They are generally very young (mostly in their twenties), yet they manage the hotel extremely well. Their language proficiency and thoughtfulness are highly commendable. I encountered some issues with card payment, and the staff were very patient, exploring different ways to help me settle the payment eventually. The entire team deserves a round of applause. Although the hotel is located in the old town, it is not right at the centre. I did try walking to the main area, which required passing through some neighbourhood streets where the pavements are not ideal. However, taxi fares are very affordable, so taking a Yandex ride is a convenient solution. As such, I have no complaints about the location or surrounding environment. Keep up the excellent work. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Bukhara.
