Beautiful resort but would not return

My husband along with our young son stayed at the Raffles on the palm for 8 nights over the Christmas period leaving just before new years. In terms of the pros, the hotel is definitely very grand, opulent and breathtaking! It really does take you by surprise just how big the hotel is. Front of house were amazing with members of staff always ready at hand to help you out of your vehicle and assisting with luggage. The rooms very probably the most spacious we have had on the palm and decor was again, extremely beautiful. The food was always very good and the brunch on Saturday was out of this world! I found the resort to be really accomodating towards kids with a lot of activities for children during the period All focused of Xmas and making the entire week very magical for my son! The pool and beach were fantastic!!! As for the cons, well I have a quite a few. Firstly, turn around/room service was the first I have ever experienced. I mean some 3* have had better service. Only the bed was made and towels changed everything else left a mess, one night staff literally failed to take the plates with food from our room from the night before. I found the cleaning staff for the rooms to be really disinterested and just getting things 'over and done with'. Morning breakfast staff, not very friendly really moody and just looked over worked. Poor communication between staff with sometimes long delay between being sat and ordering our drinks. I also found the resort not be completely transparent in terms additional costs such as sat brunch - you have to pay extra 400 AED even if on half board for drinks - I mean how many Diet Coke can a person have for lunch?! I did speak to the managers regarding my concerns and all managers across the broad addressed my concerns when raised but I think when you are paying £9k+ for a weeks stay - that is premium pricing and I just don't expect the service we got - it was NOT 5* service compared to the likes of one and only and royal Atlantis! Now the question, for the price would I return - absolutely not. Which is such a shame because the resort is beautiful but customer service is everything. Really pleased with Jacob, manager from the cafe and Ola from front of house was an absolute delight! Beach staff and life guards were amazing.

Nice service in the restaurant, and amazing food. The waiter Sougata very kind and smiling, I think it s a must in hopsitality. And the view of the hotel on the palm is spectacular! Thank you, I recommend come and visit this hotel if no come for brunch!

The beat hotel for families in the palm. A special mention for shakil , the most wonderful and helpful waiter in the main restaurant area . I have been to this hotel 8 times I will always return . . The beach is enormous , you can walk for miles and oi Attu is the best Italian on the island
