Nicely themed Ibis styles

TripAdvisor rating 5.0/5

b037 TripAdvisor review

I had stayed here before when it started appearing on the Accor website but had a feeling it would become an Ibis styles so waited to review until it actually did and got updated and themed. That theme is basketball, about which I know little so it seemed very interesting to see and learn. The staff were nice and helpful. The rooms are good even if noise can leak a bit. Breakfast was very nice. I like the location being across from the bus station and near the railway station. Just wish the local authorities would make a pedestrian crossing directly outside it!

More like a hostel

Not a good experience. Room carpet was dirty, bugs in the bathroom and a spider on the carpet. Soap dispenser did not work and on the first night the water pressure in the shower was very low, and there was no warm water. No hand towel(s). Breakfast was not nice. They should have less variety but keep things in order and cold. Now even the milk was kept in room temperature. Beds were comfortable and the sheets nice. Location was convenient. Also it was quiet. But definitely not 3 stars!

More like a hostel, not a hotel

This is not a 3-star hotel. The beds were comfortable but the carpet war dirty, toilet seat cover was broken, the toilet brush was nasty, there was no warm water in the shower and the water pressure was very low. Soap dispenser in the shower was also broken, and there was no hand towels just one larger one per person. The air con was so loud that it was hard to sleep. Breakfast could have been ok but on the first morning at 9:20 there was hardly anything left (just a few customers) and most of the food was in room temperature. Even the dairy products, and was over 25 degrees. The coffee was ok, but even the milk was kept warm. Yak! The next morning things were better, but still the food was not served cold enough. We have been to many Accor hotels over the years, even the budget ones, but this was by far the worst hotel I have stayed in a long long time. I would rather call this a hostel. Yes, it was quite cheap, but if you value any comfort, choose another hotel!

Small room but great location

Good location, just opposite the main bus station. Easy to find, or take buses to downtown. Room is a bit small, with some smell possibly from the sink or the carpet. Staff is quite responsive. Breakfast is ordinary, no good or bad experience.

Needs refinement but is very affordable

Stayed in standard twin just as the heatwave started. Beds easily movable together for a faux double if needed. When you get a deal here for considerably cheaper than the Ibis across the street, it is worth a take, but if the difference is only marginal, go for the Ibis proper instead - you’ll get a better room and tastier breakfast there than in the Magnus. Rooms of the Magnus have seen some renovation but are still kind of stuffy and ”Soviet eighties” and also have bathroom tiles crumbling & room wallpapers peeling due to excess moisture everywhere. The air conditioning is either full blast wind machine or off. The bed covers are a bit too thick for warm summer especially when combined with plastic protectors under the mattress sheet! I mean really, did I come to a senior home or hookup hotel, or both? Not expecting this level of tackiness in a 3 star joint. Also makes you sweat insufferably all night. The views from the rooftop bar were nice and all the public spaces were quite pleasant. The person at the reception was friendly and professional. tl:dr Renovation not been able to cover all the problems an old building like this has. Good views from rooftop. Nice staff. So-so breakfast. Hotel should lose the plastic sheets. Worth it if you get a room for 40 eur or less.
