This was our first visit (wife and I) to the St. Louis 21C hotel. It was a Friday night when we checked in around 4 p.m. Collin was a very helpful valet when we arrived. The front desk staff was informative, helpful and kind to both of us. Collin was a very helpful valet when we arrived. We settled into our room and headed to the bar at the Idol Wolf. After receiving a drink from the best mixologist in town (Carson), we walked up to the 2nd Floor Art Museum and were blown away with the eclectic collection of multi-media pieces. The room was immaculate with unique artwork and design elements. The bed was comfy and the temperature was easy to control. When we checked out the next morning we had a small snafu with a significant wait for a breakfast item, but the staff was attentive. Overall, I'd love to thank the full staff and management for an incredible experience in Downtown St. Louis!

Staff was underwhelming from start to finish. Desk clerk was on her phone when we walked in - I had to interrupt her and announce myself. We arrived at 4pm and our room wasn't ready - we had to wait 30 minutes. Comps of various types were suggested by her, but in the end, none were granted. There was no mention of amenities whatsoever. Had I not been to your hotels before, I would have had no idea an art gallery existed nor the cool pool area. No mention of the restaurants, either. Clearly housekeeping was rushing to finish preparing the room. We arrived to wet areas on the floors and some garbage was missed. A shelf or soap dispenser was missing from the shower, but the double-stick tape was still partially stuck to the wall. Went to the front desk to ask for a later check out and had to wait as the one attendant argued with a customer on the phone. We were granted a later check out, but while back in our room, we received a knock on the door. When I opened the door, a couple (man and woman) said "When are you checking out?" I assumed they were guests, so I said "I believe check out is at 11am." Turns out they were housekeeping staff. Their lack of a greeting, professionalism, and unidentifiable uniform was surprising. Then, to add insult to injury, my wife left her (rather expensive) dental retainer in our room. She called late that evening to alert the staff. We've yet to hear back. Ours was a celebratory stay this time, and in short, it was unremarkable at best. It's a great property, but the staff interactions made our stay feel anything but special. I fully understand we're not paying 4 Seasons or Ritz rates, but the things we found off-putting don't cost money, they require basic hospitality. Final thought; we're Accor members, and I forgot to register as such. No mention was made by the front desk, so I assume we've missed out on the points, as well. (sigh)

Parking is way too expensive, the lot behind can be used but we had to get creative with scanning the bar code each day as we were at ballgame when it expired. We had to ask for a refill of some kind every day: coffee, body wash, shampoo, they were short on bar soap so got one little one. Would be great just to have the room stocked before we check in and not have to ask. King Room had very little storage for clothes, and was pretty small to leave the suitcase out. We did love the uniqueness of the hotel and would stay again!

Downhill since my last day

There Were a couple pieces of trash in parts of the room. There was an ice cream wrapper in the corner of the room under the drapes and another piece of trash that I found elsewhere. There was no hand soap in my room at check-in. It showed up three days into my stay.
