Suburban Hotel

The hotel is in the inner suburbs of Dresden, close to public transport (tram 3). This is an older part of the city, and the hotel is an older building too, not a purpose built modern hotel. The corridors were narrow, zig-zagged, and not so well lit, and the lift was small, and the room was smaller than average too. But overall the hotel was totally OK, the staff were efficient, and it was quiet too.

The hotel is approximately 5-10 minutes by foot from the train station. It's not the most beautiful neighborhood but that's fine because we were only there to sleep next to the station. The staff is very friendly. They offered us fresh beverages on arrival. We were very surprised by the rooms. They were very big and clean (we had a family room for 4). The bathroom was nice too. The rooms have all the necessary equipments. Overall very satisfied. Only downside : there is no air-conditioning in the room.

Strange Hotel looks unfinished, reception untidy, dirty corridors, room upon check-in wasnt very clean, no accor collaterals, no DND sign, someone even came into my room without knoking. Staff werent wearing maks and you could see no smile at all!

When you have categories of hotels then there are probably criteria to be followed and I presume that all criteria have been met to be an Ibis Styles. I have stayed in a lot of them and this hotel must be at the bottom range, it really needs a full make over. People are very friendly and you have what you need to have but that's it. Breakfast was above standard although seating space is limited (at that moment). It is also not the best place for tourists because it is rather far away from the center and the neighborhood is also not the most refreshing. Again, the people working there make the difference and they really try to make the best out of it.

I think this hotel is running on a Shining-esque skeleton crew. The stairwells haven't been cleaned in months. The rooms aren't cleaned because of Covid. We did get new towels every day (which we didn't need), but we ran out of shower gel and hand soap. In general, the air doesn't circulate in the hotel. In a very hot August, it's hard to breathe in this building if you can't open the windows because the sun is blazing. The bathrooms in the lobby are locked due to Covid, but in every other hotel I've stayed in during the past year, these lobby bathrooms have been open. I think the hotel has decided to reduce staff, reduce cleaning, and blame it on Covid. The rooms are spacious and, yes, stylish, but the staff is a bit absent. We had to go find someone to LET US OUT of the hotel one evening. So just a friendly suggestion: staff need to be present, bathrooms need to be unlocked, stairwells need to be cleaned.
