Avoid this spa- they will try to charge you for the smallest things.

Don’t even know where to start with this hotel.. should have known it was going to be a horrible experience when we arrived at the hotel and the room was hot. Was told the AC was off and would eventually kick in. Few days passed and the room never changed temp, complained several times and was ignored, a room change to a working AC room would have been nice. Room went uncleaned for 2 days- when I went to the reception to ask for at least a towel swap or a new one I was told it would be a 10 Euros for a kit and 5 for an extra towel? Didn’t know the cleaning service wad not included with my stay, apparently that’s a new thing. No water refills to the room either. Each additional bottle beside the initial 2 are 1.50 EU. Do not expect a microwave or anyone to go out there way to make your stay comfortable it seems like it’s too much to ask for even though I booked a 5 day stay. Outdate TVs and smelly spa area, honestly you’re better off going somewhere else than booking your stay here, would not recommend. I normally don’t even do reviews but this place took is just a tourist trap.

Spent 3 nights in the resort. Really picturesque setting, friendly staff (Francesca in the restaurant was great fun and really nice with the kids) and some good facilities. Rooms were a nice size. The layout of the hotel worked well. Lifts were small but staurs were clearly signed and well lit. We were asked for a rental fee for bath robes - which given the daily rate for the room seemed very petty and not required. Breakfast was in a nice location (unfortunately that bar wasn’t available the rest of the day) and had a nice selection of local produce. I rated as 7 as it was fair value (not cheap but some good facilities and an enjoyable stay). That said - it was not close to a 9 or 10 which the request suggested was the hotel’s expectation and so I highlight below, my families thoughts on areas that could be improved. I got the impression not all of the facilities were open / available - so the bar / restaurant on the top floor by reception was not open during our stay (we went to the top floor for breakfast but it was closed / offered no food or drinks after breakfast) the bar by the pool was out of stock on some drinks when we arrived on Sunday and they only got new stock on Tuesday (as an example the Napoli Spritz was a drink that was not available until Tuesday evening - and we didn’t ask for every drink at the bar 🤣). I didn’t see the steam room open during our stay - although the spa pools were generally nice and maintained to a good standard. There was a reliance on our car to travel around (and whilst the hotel was in a picturesque location it had nothing at all in the surrounding dinghy area that was walkable in safety) whilst that is understandable and apparently within local culture - when on holiday it’s nice to travel out and enjoy food / experiences / some drinks without having to worry about driving. On other stays in similar locations, the hotel would have a shuttle bus / car available for a small fee or an arrangement with a local taxi firm - so that guests can travel around & see sights without driving. The taxis cost stupid money - their excuse they travel out on a journey to pick up. A hotel of Mercure reputation & size should be able to negotiate rates for guests that are reasonable. We were hopping to get a taxi to Siena station to travel to Florence - but the taxi quote was nearly 200 Euros one way!!!!! As I said at the start - hotel was lovely, facilities nice & staff great - and so the above should be read as additional matters that should be considered to support your guests in the future. More people would use taxi / pay for the use of a hotel shuttle bus etc if they were made available - it’s a shame to stay in Tuscany near Siena but have to drive to local restaurants & towns / cities. By not travelling to eat evening meal out (I don’t drive when I have any alcohol and want the option to have a nice glass of wine or a beer with a lovely meal) it highlighted the limitations of the restaurant menu and that the other restaurant wasn’t open. We waited 25 minutes to check out of the hotel. There was a family in front of us (who clearly had issues with their bill) but no one else was available to quickly check us out (and then the card machine wasn’t working properly when it was our turn to check out).
