My experience in Sofitel is just amazing 🤩 high quality services and the reception very helpful , the rooms are luxurious and comfortable I felt home , highly recommended im here for a business trip and this is the perfect place to be in 💯/💯 And they have a variety of foods 😍

Double charging and total lack of response to my repeated emails follow up demanding a refund

I stayed in the hotel from 11th May 2024 (check in) to 17th May 2024 (check out). I booked the room through direct email with Sofitel Istanbul Taksim and I receieved a request for online payment for the booking through the online payment system of the hotel. I paid through the online system on 6th May 2024. Upon check out, the hotel front desk asked me to pay again. As I assume that the online payment is just for the holding amount of the booking rather than actually charging to my card, I presented the credit card and the hotel charged me for the stay again. A few days later, I discovered from my credit card record that Sofitel Istanbul Taksim had charged me 2 times (one on 6th May and the other one on 17 May) for the same stay. I immediately wrote an email to the hotel to demand a full refund of the double charging. Despite repeated emails in the 10 days following my first email, there had been no response at all from anyone from Sofitel Istanbul Taksim on my case. This is indeed extremely unprofessional and unacceptale in not responding to my request due to errors on their part. I then ecalated the issue and files a formal complaint to the Accor Group Customer Care (request [15588781]). Guess what? The Customer Care just replied through email saying that they are "unable to answer your request" and they "have forwarded it to the hotel Sofitel Istanbul Taksim who will take charge of your file"! This is quite ridiculous! I have been complianing about the lack of response from the hotel and the Accor Group Customer Care is just refering the case back to the hotel? I was involved in customer care / complaint before I retired and I do understand that people make mistakes in operations. I can accept that. The point is that the best way to handle a complaint is to turn a complaint into a compliment by promptly addressing the issue in a honest and fair way to win back the loyalty of the customer. I am not asking for any compensation nor favour but just a refund of the double charging. The overall experience staying in the hotel is OK but the way the double charging is handled is really unprofessional and ridiculous!

Had 4 nights here in May and it was a very mixed experience. The positives: On checkin my ALL Platinum status was recognised and room options discussed. The room was fantastic, its view, modern facilities and cleanliness. The disappointments: The club lounge was terrible. Deadly quiet, lacked any atmosphere, basic food offering. overall very un-millesime. The reception and concierge staff were typically more occupied with their smart phones than guests - which looked very unprofessional and very un-accor. The only night I chose to dine in, a Friday night at 7.30pm, and the main restaurant only offered pizza for some reason. I was told this after sitting there 10 minutes. 4 guests and 5 staff in there made this no excuse. I feel the hotel staff lacked customer service training and some discipline. It's rare I say this about an Accor property but that was my experience. I was called on my last night by reception to check on my stay. I gave the feedback on restaurant food offering etc. I was told someone would call to apologise, no one did. A note on the location. Taksim Sqr is frantic and bustling day and night. The second you step out of the hotel you are in the thick of it. Generally I love that but after a few days of the crowds and hustlers, I was wishing I was staying elsewhere, especially when the service and attention inside the hotel was substandard. There are better options in Taksim and other areas of Istanbul that are exciting yet comfortable to get around and lack the tacky 'working girl' activity both outside and 'inside' the hotel.

We had a great stay at Istanbul, the Sofitel location is extremely convenient. The staff was extremely friendly including Muzaffer with housekeeping who always greeted us and made our stay very pleasant. The only issue we faced was our king bed wasn’t a true king and the two twins attached kept moving apart during the night causing backpain. The staff was kind enough to offer a room change however we didn’t want to repack mid trip and Muzaffer had given us extra mattress pads to help with this issue which we truly appreciate.

5 star stay made possible by the hotels housekeeper after my surgery

Our stay was good but it was made awesome by the housekeeper Khun Win Aung as he made us feel comfortable as I just had a surgery there. He took care if I need an extra pillow or extra sheets, made sure that water is there so that I don't have to call again and again. 5 stars just for the brother Aung ♥️
