Trattoria M Kyoto is the Accor hotel group's first Italian restaurant in Japan. We chose the name Trattoria, which means casual restaurant in Italian, because we wanted our guest to enjoy an easy-going dining experience.

Mercure allegedly located at and known as"Kyoto Station" is approximately a 15 minute walk from the Station depending on which gate you use. The restaurant has a large impressive shiny espresso machine which is apparently pure object d'art as guests are directed to the self serve (rubbish) coffee makers. Arguments with staff at the restaurant (about their booking errors) and further arguments about double charges on the invoice upon check out almost resulted in us missing our train to Tokyo for to fly home which would have been a disaster. Disaster avoided (made the train with about 30 seconds to spare) but a high stress way to end the trip. On the plus side the hotel itself is nicely decorated and the lobby has a "wow factor" (once you finally finish the arduous walk from from station at which it is allegedly located). The room (top floor due to Accor status upgrade) was nice and not comically small.

Please allow us to express our sincerest apologies. First of all, we are sorry for the inconvenience and trouble with the proximity from Kyoto station. Although it still takes 8 minutes, it would be faster than 15 minutes if you use central or west gate of Kyoto station. Second of all, we use the espresso machine for coffee on sale, and serve Costa coffee for breakfast buffet. We are sorry but we cannot espresso machine until the bar opens at 11:30 am. We will make every effort to improve it. Furthermore, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and trouble at the restaurant and reception. We will make sure it will not happen again by sharing your comment with related team and take steps to improve it. We appreciate your sharing your concerns. Good stay, comfortable and nice service. First thing that really impress me is the decorations and hotel interior, very well designed. Staffs are really helpful especially a woman at the front desk in the morning shift during my check out date, she helps me a lot with airport bus booking and transportation arrangement. Hotel provided some of important documents such as airport shuttle and so on with english version, also the staffs can communicate in english very well. Really traveller and foreigners friendly. The location is also good, Donki, shops, restaurants, and Kyoto station can be reached within walking distance. Not far from Kyoto station but not that close as well, traveller with less stuff can walk to the hotel but if you have more luggage I recommend to take a taxi especially in rainy day. Able to store the luggage before check in and after check out. Welcome gift for ALL exclusive member is nice and can feel the touch of local as well. Note. There is only restaurant in the hotel so it can be very busy in breakfast time.

Worst experience I have ever had in a hotel

Worst experience I have ever had in a hotel. We booked a room for 3 people. When I got to the room, I saw two beds made and the sofa bed folded down. I looked at the sofa bed and there was something white on it. I assumed it was the bedding. So we left the room and went exploring the city and when I came back late, it was not the bedding, in fact the bed was not made. There was also no towel for my daughter or any other item for her that the hotel provides to its guests, it was as if I had not booked a room for 3. The hotel took over an hour to fix the problem. The worst part was that when we tried to eat at the hotel restaurant, we were refused and told that the restaurant was full of reservations and the tables were empty. We spoke to the front desk, who put us in the restaurant, and we saw that it was empty the whole time and in a short time all the tables were taken. This did not only happen to my family, but to another family that was traveling with us. And today I'm still at the hotel and again they said there was no vacancy around 7pm, we went out to buy food and came back at 8pm, the restaurant was empty, many tables were unoccupied, I went down at 9:30pm, filmed and the restaurant was empty, is this the commitment to guests?

In regard to the restaurant, we are sorry that our explanation was not enough. Tables at the restaurant looked empty but those were actually booked, so we needed it empty until they arrive. We tend to have many reservations on weekends, so even though it looks empty, we have less tables for guests without reservation. We try to offer tables to guests as much as possible, but we couldn't make it due to the number of available table on the day. The last order time for food is 9 pm, so it is fair that we have much more available tables at 9:30 pm even though we cannot offer tables. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience, but we hope you will understand. However, we will make every effort to have more available tables for non-reservation guests. We appreciate your sharing your concerns. We hope that we have an opportunity to see you again and provide you a better service in the near future. Mercure Kyoto Station

A very posh accommodation with friendly staff and always greeting you with a smile. It’s near the Kyoto train station and close lots of shops and accessible to public transportation. Clean and tidy rooms which would guarantee a good night’s sleep. Food was A-okay too, top notch!

Hotel is not far from JR station (10 min walk). Nice and comfy room, love amenity set. Staffs are friendly and give us warm welcome. Value for money and recommend for travellers. But there are only 2 elevators and might be get fulled in the morning.
