Excellent hotel within walking distance of train station. Fantastic buffet breakfast was included in our tariff. Italian/pizza restaurant in evening ~ tasty. Bar drinks were reasonably priced. Room was small but very comfortable, especially the bed. Separate shower room with an excellent variable shower head. Free WiFi & airconditioning. No view, windows were opaque, ?neighbour privacy. Attentive & helpful staff. Defiantly would re-visit.

A short walk from Kyoto Station (or bus from outside) Mercure Kyoto Station is a perfect place to base yourself when visiting Kyoto. It is new, modern and beuatifully designed. Superior Room was very large by Japanese standards which was very welcome with two suitcases. King size bed was comfortable and provided a good nights sleep. Bathroom on the other hand was small and contained the only mirror in the entire room. A full length mirror would have been nice in the entranceway. Room and hotel in general was spotless and extremely clean. Based on the price we paid, the accomodation offering and proximity to transport I would happily recommend staying here as it provides everything nessessary after a long day exploring everything Kyoto has to offer.

Lovely designed hotel

The hotel is very prettily designed with a Japanese theme. However the biggest drawbacks were not much storage space in the room and no view from the window .Overall lighting in the room was dim They provided coffee and tea but no milk powder which was provided only on request. The hotel location is nearly a 15 min walk from main railway station and dragging the suitcase is not a pleasant experience. There is no facility for laundry though they have a single microwave machine in the basement ie lounge.

A little difficult find but once found, the welcome was genuine and first appearances were positive. The room was good and the bed comfortable, however, the lighting was dreadful - certainly not designed by anyone who’d planned to stay there. It was unnecessarily dark and the lights were impractical. A pity, as otherwise I would have awarded a much higher rating.

I was attending an event near Kyoto Station. The hotel was not only conveniently located nearby, my room was strategically located with direct view of the Kyoto Tower. Beautifully lit at sunrise and neon lit at night - it was perfect. Excellent hospitality with acceptable breakfast variety with excellent coffee.
