Don’t go for the slides

We picked Suncity due to the proximity to the beach and so that our kids could enjoy the water slides. Proximity to the beach is great but everything else not so great. Service was average, the rooms and common areas including the buffet breakfast restaurant are all a little run down and require maintenance (it’s an old building). Holes in the walls in our two bedroom apartment, paint peeling of the doors. Loose foot thresholds on the balcony (the list goes on). The water slides were dangerous. My son copped a nasty bruise to his temple (he was using the slide properly). The life guard told us this happens a few times daily and the slides are dangerous. There was also confusion around our booking, a glitch in the booking app and confirmation with the hotel. In the end Mantra honoured our booking but we had to explain it to three seperate services people at three different times (it became frustrating). Meriton are building a high rise next door. 6.30am commercial level construction noise. Also some confusion around check out time. All and all it was ok but not really worth the price tag.

We stayed 4 nights in room 1801 at the Mantra Suncity hotel, upon arrival staff were lovely and helpful. The apartment itself was an absolute disaster, it is so unbelievably rundown, there were plastered patches all throughout (un-sanded and un-painted) the carpet was old and smelt funky, the lounge was old and had holes all through it. The oven hadn’t been cleaned and there had been aluminium foil placed over the bottom tray that was baked in something burnt so when we turned the oven on the place smelled like something was burning! The dust was think everywhere, there was a detached broken sliding wooden door just leaning on another wooden door. There was a broken cupboard in the bathroom and the exhaust fans were covered in an inch of dust, the ensuite’s door didn’t shut properly and there were no locks on either bathroom (the locks had been removed) there were stains all over all the walls, even the random bible you get in a drawer was broken… The whole apartment was a dumpster fire and it’s a shame because the hotel itself was lovely and breakfast was great and staff were always very helpful. Oh and the pillows were very comfortable. Don’t stay in room 1801 because it was not worth the money and it needs some serious TLC and a proper clean.

Big clean room with plenty of amenities (although, most could do with a bit of a refresh). No daily housekeeping was a bit of a surprise, but not a big deal for only a two night stay. Beach access is only a block away and Caville Ave is easily within walking distance. There's a light rail station right by the side gate if you want to head further out. Front desk staff can use a bit of an attitude check (maybe they just hate the job). Pool bar closed an hour earlier than what was stated on their opening hours on the Saturday (ended up having to redeem the welcome drink from the fridge by the front desk). A number of the elevators were out of order the time I was there, so you'll be waiting a little for one. Speaking to some of the residents, seems that they're always doing some sort of maintenance on one or two. The floor I was on is shared with long term residents. It's not a problem when in your room, but the noise and smell (from whatever they cooked up) hits you when opening the door. Roller doors to the garage (both entrances) wasn't opening for me with the card I was given. Fortunately, someone eventually came along to let me in and out. If you don't mind leaving the car out in the sun, you're probably better off parking across the street (it's only $6 for 12 hours)

Stayed on level 22, unit 04 which is an ocean facing 3 bedroom apartment. Very clean and partially refurbished. I thought it was surprisingly great actually. Only suggestion would be to improve the lighting in this unit, particularly in the bathrooms. Cheap fluros and dull light bulbs throughout cheapens the whole place, and makes it difficult to get ready and put on makeup. This is a pet peeve of mine. All the different Pool areas and water slides are fantastic, as is the inside pool and spa. Cannot fault the facilities. Only downside to stay was that our room wasn't ready until 4pm and no welcome drink was offered while we waited. Also, parking is $20 per night which seems steep to me for Surfers in my opinion. But otherwise well done to all.

地點在Surfer paradise的邊緣，從最主要的Cavil Ave走到旅館有大約需要15分鐘，兩站輕軌站的距離，但是旅館的後門就是輕軌站，累了不想走也可以搭輕軌。房間很大，風景很好，工作人員友善，每天的早餐樣式都一樣，味道中等，如果下次再入住，我應該不會選擇添加這個選項。整體的氣氛很好，划水道也很有趣，但泳池的磁磚很鋒利，我老公的手被刮到傷口有點深，所以流了很多血，救生員有過來緊急止血，這方面可能要注意一下。
