Disappointing

With the level of competition for mid range hotels at this price point, the Mantra Sydney Central really needs to improve. My room was very large but so dingy and poorly maintained. There was a fresh looking glob of food stain on the couch. No in-room safe. The bed was comfortable enough, and clean, as was the bathroom. The living area was lit like a prison with no lamps and just one blue-toned cold overhead light. The reception staff were efficient and polite but seemed overworked. I wouldn't stay here again - and I'm a gold ALL member.

Great Location, Reception Staff the Standout

Although the property is somewhat dated, we enjoyed our six-night stay, our apartment, while warranting a makeover, was bright, with adequate furnishings and kitchenette facilities, the bed allowing restful sleep and the large window with outlook over adjacent streets. Servicing was not included but it was a simple task to obtain replacement towels and amenities from reception. Reception staff welcoming and efficient and offering any assistance or advice required during our stay. Great location with the light rail adjacent in George Street and many attractions and restaurants within walking distance. I have downgraded my rating as the property does not have a restaurant, resulting in us being unable to take advantage of the dining discounts afforded by our Accor membership. On the plus side, I guess the lack of a restaurant did allow us to visit and enjoy alternative at some of the plethora of nearby restaurants. We would absolutely stay again if visiting Sydney, fantastic location for us and access to many attractions and sightseeing.

Mantra Central Sydney – Great Location, But the Noise is a Dealbreaker Stayed for three nights and, unfortunately, broke my golden rule of reading reviews before booking. Positives: • The hotel is clean, and the check-in staff were friendly (though this was our only interaction with staff). • Rooms are decent, with comfy mattresses. • The location is fantastic. The Issue: The hotel’s lists “double glazing,” the noise from the trams is relentless. You don’t just hear them—you feel them. There is street noise and buskers late into the night but it’s the trams that are the issue. Even with sleep loops in, the rumble disrupted my sleep significantly. Based on other reviews, the opposite side of the hotel might be quieter, but I always ask myself: Would I stay again? Flat out, no. And that’s a shame because the location is otherwise great.
