Great Location - Just needs some work!

We have stayed at the Sierra Grand some years ago, and found the location to be very convenient, close to Pacific Fair, Broadbeach and Convention Center. However, as an Accor Plus Platinum member many of the membership and status benefits associated are not available or offered at this site, - There are no options for breakfast, which is our fault for not reviewing the amenities before finalizing the booking, there are no welcome drinks - not even a bottle of water in the rooms and while we stayed for 8 days, we did not have a room cleaned or serviced during the stay. Our room a 3 bedroom apartment room 801, was very spacious and more than enough room for our family, the one fault was the rooms windows did not sealed correctly, making it very noisy being on the main road and also allowing breeze into the rooms, which as we visited in Winter, a little chilly for our children at night, having to place extra blankets on their beds, due to no heating available in the bedrooms and only in the main living area. The sliding door to the balcony also did not seem to be very secure with-it physically rattling in the wind during the day, so the room we stayed in needs some maintenance work as even the blinds were ripped in the main living area. Overall though the location of the property is great and close to all the main features of the Gold Coast - beaches, shopping, restaurants, with an easy stroll to all and the light rail just outside to venture up to Surfers Paradise and beyond.

Easy check in, apartment fab was on 2103. Lovely layout of rooms with 2 bathrooms & facilities such as washing machine & dryer and view over to the sea and 5 mins walk to Pacific Fair & restaurants was fab. Main desk helpful if needed washing powder, sponges or dishcloth or anything else. Plenty cafes nearby for breakfast. Pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi small areas inside but enough room if you don’t want to be outside if too hot/cold. Wfi for free a bit ropey so maybe arrange to pay extra for it if essential. Maybe a few more throws for the beds if in cooler months or choose to put heat on with air conditioning. Enjoyed our time here .

The room was spacious and has lots of utilities for a longer stay. The bathroom floor was filthy...long black hairs all over the tiled floor and had not been vacuumed and mopped. No complementary toiletries except for the grotty dispensers in the shower. When the water was turned on in the shower a horrendous smell emanated from the drain. The road construction work below went all night and though on the 23rd floor the constant noise meant we had no sleep. Bed was fine but pillows high and hard. The underground car park was dangerous to enter/exit and very poorly signposted. They had the driving lane on the right. The car spaces were far too small and close for a regular sized car.

Apartment is well located next to Broadbeach bus and tram stop. 3 restaurants on the ground floor - Indian Japanese teppanyaki and Thai. Gym -and two pools - indoor and outdoor. We were located on level 19 with views to the mountains. The apt is very spacious and fully equipped but is lacking in cleaning - there’s dust on the walls and ceiling suggesting it has not been cleaned in many many months or years? In all ok for the price paid. Compared with some other serviced apartments there’s no so many “rules”

Staff at all times were extremely welcoming and helpful. The amenities were clean and the spa and pool water of a good temperature. Our only real complaint would be the musty smell on level 7 and inside our room 708. Not sure if it could be a quick fix or a total replacement of the carpet and or lounge suite. We love this hotel but after this visit thought that next time we would only stay if room upgrades have been done.
