Disgusting - never again

We chose the Sierra Grand based on its location and photos online (stupid I know) When we entered the 3 bedroom partial ocean view room 1503, I was disgusted. The room was clearly old and dated, but that wasn't the issue. There was grime throughout the kitchen and streak marks in a half attempt to clean it. There were stains on the couch, the carpet looked putrid and felt manky, I don't think it has ever been cleaned. I told the kids not to walk around barefoot. The beds were only made with a fitted sheet and a top sheet. No blanket/quilt. It was strange. I rang reception after 20 minutes and told them how disappointed I was and asked to move to another 3 bedroom. I was told they were all booked and there's nothing they could do. We didn't even unpack, we left everything in our bags as the wardrobes were disgusting, uncleaned shelves and musty and damp. The sad part is the luggage we stored in the wardrobes developed white/green furry mould underneath which we noticed when we were packing at the end of the trip. So the floor of the wardrobes must have been damp. When we lifted the lid of the washing machine the smell that came out was absolutely putrid and foul. We needed to wash our clothes but that was another level of disgusting. We did a load and grey grime sludge came out of the barrel holes and left stains all over a white piece. We spent as little time in the hotel as possible, hated being there, and that was our first family holiday since pre covid that we had booked and looked forward to, and we had to endure 10 nights living in filth. The hotel has its own residents and is pet friendly. We had an female senior standing in the middle of the elevator doors with her dog, and wouldn't move back to let us in the lift. We would have to had step over the dog or the lead to get in. She asked if we had an issue with her dog (as we weren't able to walk in anyway) I said yes my daughter is scared of dogs. She said 'bye bye then' and shut the doors. Hated this holiday, hated the money we wasted on it, loved the family time, but the hotel room should be reported to the health department. Disgusting- Room 1503, run a mile.

No Creature Comforts

Family & apartment oriented. No creature comforts you expect for this price. Lounges are old & no support so you sink, bed is very hard & no underlay/topper, pillows are old & extremely hard, blinds are sheer so up at the crack of dawn & no tv internet (bring your own chromecast). Outside pool is roadside, cnr of 2 roads with fence only 1mtre high so everyone can see you when you stand & noisy instead of relaxing. That said, very clean & close to transport hub & shops. Staff are so nice ut need to know more about area.

Just finishing our stay at Mantra Sierra Grand Broadbeach and it has been fantastic.The 3 bedroom apartment we stayed in was excellent, very clean, spacious and equipped with all the facilities we needed. All the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. We were initially concerned after reading some negative reviews, but we believe that many of these relate to apartments managed through Airbnb or private agents which are not under Mantra’s management. To ensure the best experience and service we strongly recommend booking directly through the Mantra Sierra Grand team, Josh and Tamara will be able to answer anything and give such friendly customer service. Overall we couldn’t be happier with our stay and will definitely return. Highly recommended.

Our serviced apartment was in a great location, directly across from Pacific Fair shopping centre, and a short walk from the beach and restaurants of Broadbeach. While that's great, my main expectation when booking any accommodation is cleanliness and hygiene... I’ve never encountered an issue like we had here. When we checked into Mantra Sierra Grand Broadbeach earlier this week, we realised our beds were made with just a fitted sheet and a top sheet—no quilt, blanket, or doona. We called and requested quilts, assuming this was an error. Someone arrived and remade our beds with a quilt. It wasn't until we went to put our son to bed that evening, I realised we were given uncovered quilts which had been put directly in contact with the bottom sheet on the bed, with the top sheet just placed in top of the quilt. These quilts also had visible stains... I was so confused. We had a spare bed in my son's room, so managed to make his bed up using these sheets, so he wouldn't be in direct contact with the uncovered quilt. We flipped the sheet on our bed to put between us and our quilt. When I asked at reception the next morning for an extra sheet for us, so we could make our bed properly and wouldn't have to come in contact with the stained quilt, I was told that this wasn't an error, that it is standard practice for Mantra hotels in Queensland - double sheeting only, no triple sheeting, no quilt covers etc. While the staff member agreed to send up one extra sheet and a towel at my request, these then never came. There was no apology, and no sense that this was unusual or unhygienic. While our apartment wasn't the cleanest in general, this crossed such a line for me, I'm actually still horrified. I also really regretted not looking at all the similar reviews before booking, as I can see this is a longstanding issue that hasn't been addressed. It never crossed my mind that a hotel brand as trusted as Mantra would provide uncovered quilts and expect guests to sleep directly against them. It's completely below the standard you’d expect from this company. This experience really impacted our comfort and feeling of cleanliness throughout the stay. In addition, the windows in our apartment offered very little protection from the sound of loud winds, as well as night roadworks, which began at around 1am, every night of our stay. The block out blinds were also missing in the bedrooms (there was one in the loungeroom, so it was obvious what was missing - some blinds did remain in the bedrooms, but with gaps in between them), which meant the light in the bedrooms was quite bright, even at night. All in all, I am just so disappointed. We won’t be returning.

We had a 2bd ocean view room on the 26th floor, the view was great but the room was a bit grubby. The window frames were full of dirt/dust, the chair/lounge cushions were stained and had crusty spills on them, the sheer blinds had brown spill marks all over them. The room was modern enough but the cleanliness was less than average. The air con in the 2nd bedroom wasn’t working. The floorboards were sticky to walk on. We had friends staying in a 3bd apartment on the 3rd floor which was damp and smelt foul, the carpet was extremely dated, the carpet and lounge definitely need replacing. Our friends had no tea towels, dishwashing liquid, washing powder etc. The best part was the location being close to the beach, and you had everything you needed such as a washing machine, dishwasher, basic TV etc. I don’t think we would stay here again for the price we could have stayed somewhere a little nicer. The staff were really helpful and friendly though so that was a plus!
