Will never stay in the Pullman Hotels again

The location is handy to everything, however the park in front of the hotel had many homeless people and rowdy, drunk, indigenous people fighting. The room itself was tired and not very clean. There was thick dust sitting on the fabric bedhead, as were the bedside tables and stains on the bedside lamps. They advised us that a bed linen change was done every second day and we have been here for 6 days and not had a linen change. There were clumps of hair on the bathroom floor when we arrived. We always stay in 5* hotels and have lovely plush white towels, however, The Pullman provided us with sun-standard towels that were crisp, dirty white in colour and very thin, bordering on threadbare. Breakfast was buffet, and all hot food was less than lukewarm. Best to order an omelette because that was delivered to you hot. My advice is there are far more better hotels to stay in Adelaide as this is definitely a substandard hotel and not sure how it gets a 5* rating! We were here for 8 nights and paid over $2000.

Complimentary Gold status room upgrade to a balcony room overlooking leafy Hindmarsh Square. Comfortable, clean, quiet, calming, good size, modern, if a little bland. Big walk-in shower (bit of a funky smell from the drain!) and separate bath in the reasonably sized bathroom. Room had all expected amenities. Stylish lobby, bar and restaurant with good service. Breakfast was the expected spread, self-service areas are a bit cramped and slow flow at busy times, and the made to order egg station needs more than one staff, the poor woman was overwhelmed with orders. Modern and clean leisure facilities - small gym, small pool, spa pool, sauna and (broken) steam room. Can't beat the location - quiet but just steps away from Rundle Mall and walkable to city attractions and the river. Good value at the room rate I paid and would happily stay again.

The staff were extremely friendly. I landed after 20 hours of travel and needed a quick dinner before grabbing sleep for a long day of meetings. Although the restaurant wasn’t open, they graciously accommodated me. Rooms are nice, clean and well decorated.

The NOT so Executive Lounge

We stayed at Adelaide Pullman for 1 night on the 27th of December, this was our Christmas present to each other. We treated ourselves with the Executive Lounge option. The check-in was lovely and the staff at reception were very helpful, explained about the Lounge, breakfast etc. We arrived at the Lounge at 5pm, there were already a few people in there. We went over to the bar where the drinks and food were served. I poured a glass of wine for my husband and I, only to be told that I am not to pour my own wine and go and sit down. I was taken aback, as every other lounge we have stayed in, we were able to pour our own drinks. We sat down with our drink, some time after we were offered a top up, we accepted and thanked Executive Lounge staff member, he didn't respond, he didn't speak to us at all, it is like we offended him with the pouring of our own drink when we first arrived. Things declined very quickly, if that's possible, we were completely ignored. He went out of his way to serve others but not us till last, he continued to be very curt, no smile, no polite chat. I went over to him when he was on his own and quietly asked him if I have done anything to offend him and asked him why he was being so rude towards us, specifically me. He didn't really have an answer for me, except to say that he isn't talking to me because I am on my phone. I said to him that when he approaches us, I make sure to put the phone down and I always thank him and he cant even answer with a "you are welcome". It was 6.45pm and he called last drinks, he went over to every single other person in the lounge except us. So we picked up our glasses and headed over to the bar area, I was just about to put my glass down when he snatched it from me and told me that I cant put the glass there (this is where the bottles of wine were and now empty food plates). He then reluctantly poured us the wine, once again, no your welcome, nothing. When my husband asked him why he was being so rude to me, he thought it would be appropriate to yell across the entire lounge "Get out of MY Lounge, you are not welcome and don't come back!". I was so shocked and embarrassed as obviously everyone in the room was staring at us. It was awful, obviously we got up and left. I burst into tears, thank goodness the Duty Manager was really lovely and apologetic. He assured me that he would take this up with the Lounge Manager. He assured me that this was not OK and would be dealt with accordingly. He did compensate us with a free dinner in their Restaurant. It was hard for me to eat as I was so upset. I didn't sleep very well and woke up with puffy eyes. It was awful to have to go to breakfast and face some of the people that witnessed that abuse. Upon checkout, we were refunded 1/2 of our money, a nice gesture to a degree but this doesn't change the fact that our entire evening and night were ruined. I can not understand why we were targeted by this man and what his reason was to unleash and abuse us. I did try to speak to the Duty Manager (different one from the night before) but unfortunately she was at lunch. I asked the reception staff to ask her to call me when she returns but 3.5 hours later, she still hasn't. What should have been a lovely get away, turned into an awful stay, I will never feel comfortable in staying there again.

Great family stay with standout service in the Executive Lounge

We stayed at the Pullman at the start and end of our recent trip to Adelaide. As a family of four with two older children, we booked interconnecting Superior rooms. While we didn’t receive an upgrade as Platinum members, the rooms were a decent size and worked well for our needs. The Highlights: • Executive Lounge: A huge shoutout to Boman. He was amazing and went above and beyond to ensure the chef prepared Coeliac-friendly options for me every day. • Breakfast: Generally very good with a great variety. • Location: As a former local, it was a great base for our first trip back staying in a hotel. Areas for Improvement: • Communication: Before our first stay, Guest Services proactively called to confirm our rooms. However, for the second stay, I couldn't reach the hotel. The number on the website rang out repeatedly when I tried to verify our interconnecting rooms. • The Balcony: We had a balcony room, but there was no furniture provided, which felt like a missed opportunity to enjoy the view. • Lounge Drinks: As a suggestion, we’d love to see a quality South Australian sparkling wine offered in the lounge rather than the cheaper French sparkling currently served. • Buffet Quality: Please keep an eye on the spinach at the salad/fruit bar; it was often a bit old or slimy. Despite the minor hiccups, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.
