The Mercure Rio Boutique Hotel Copacabana has an incredible sense of style and a warm, welcoming team that made my stay unforgettable. My oceanfront room was spacious, spotless, and offered breathtaking views of Copacabana Beach. With a delicious breakfast each morning and a prime location in the heart of Rio, it was the perfect home base for exploring the city!

A Magical Location with Memorable Staff – but the Hotel Needs Improvements

The location is magical! Truly the best spot to stay in Copacabana — you can’t beat it. We want to highlight two staff members who went above and beyond during our stay: Rafael at the front desk and Duda at the restaurant. Rafael was incredibly helpful when we faced a serious health issue. He arranged everything at the hotel in such an efficient, smooth, and budget-friendly way — we’re so grateful and will always remember his kindness. Duda was also fantastic, especially with helping us get food for our little girl. She was so caring and attentive! Now, for the hotel itself: The breakfast was quite basic. There were frequent issues with missing plates, glasses, and cutlery, and the coffee machine was out of service most of the time. Unfortunately, the staff never managed to get the omelet order right. On the other hand, the dinner experience was surprisingly good — the ceviche and other meals were super tasty. We definitely recommend the restaurant for a quick and satisfying bite. As for the room, it was not comfortable. The bathroom was outdated, the towels were rough, and worst of all, the room was extremely humid. The bed sheets and our clothes constantly felt damp. The A/C couldn’t fix the humidity, and it made it very hard to get a good night’s sleep.

I had a very pleasant time for two nights at the Mercure Hotel, with a very comfortable, reasonably-priced room, and good service in the hotel restaurant. I very much appreciated that Nicola gave me access to my room a little earlier than the official check-in time. All in all, it was a memorable stay. I recommend Mercure Hotel very much to anyone considering a vacation at Copacabana Beach.

Great location but disappointing overall

Great location right on Copacabana Beach but the rooms are very small. The shower is awkward to access to get the water you like without standing underneath it. The restaurant was really poorly organised. Seemed to have plenty of staff but constantly running out of things. Even cutlery was difficult to get at times. Coffee constantly running out and as for getting all components of a hot breakfast together at the same time. Forget it.
