Oasis of Calm and Space, but Restaurant/Bar a Letdown

I stayed more about four times at the SO/Berlin Das Stue, initially as I wanted to try another Accor family property (disclaimer, I am an Accor Platinum member). Every single stay has been very good, the last one was disappointing especially F&B. On the bright side, I was systematically recognized as a Platinum member which I appreciate. I was provided early check-ins which I was thankful for, as well as for the handwritten notes. The SO/Berlin Das Stue is certainly a special property, and one that I use to recharge. The gym room is roomy and functional, the zoo is right by, there's an amazing bar and plenty of room to wander around. I do love the turn-down service! I am almost always dining and having drinks on property, and the last time was a let down: - Bartending staff was largely not caring about anyone despite the low patronage. You also had to beg to get a glass of water and some nuts. - Restaurant drinks (wine) taking minutes to be served, again despite low patronage to the point that food comes first. - Breakfast being a total chaos. A simple order would not come. When enquiring, I was told that the "kitchen has lost orders", really? If orders are known to be lost, no-one is scrambling to ask customers what they ordered? I was also delivered the wrong beverage orders minutes later. When enquiring, I am met with: "You look like another customer". Really? And that's presumably coming from the manager. I want to thank the gentleman (who I think goes by Mark) who tried to make it right despite management clearly not doing anything. I conveyed my appreciation for the stay at checkout. I was met with apologies. I also offered to speak to a manager as I had few minutes until my taxi. My request did not meet anyone's interest. That was disappointing, especially when you pay a premium to be on-site. As I said when I checked out, I love SO/Berlin Das Stue, but I will think twice when coming back.

It is unacceptable that orders were lost and incorrect beverages were delivered, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused you. We will thoroughly investigate these issues with our kitchen and service teams to prevent such occurrences in the future. We appreciate your recognition of our colleagues efforts to make things right during your stay, and we will ensure that your compliments are shared with him. However, we understand that our management response fell short of your expectations, and we apologize for any disappointment this caused. Beautiful hotel located in a greenery area with an amazing pool and sauna. Although the hotel was extremely clean, it did not meet the 5-star standards as a lifestyle hotel. Before my arrival, I had requested a nice room. Unfortunately, the room I was allocated, room #110, had big windows facing the main entrance to the hotel, which made me feel a bit exposed and lacked privacy. The room, especially the bathroom, was dated and had limescale, mould, and wear and tear. Every single day, someone knocked on the door around 9 am, even after I said that I was inside. They would open the door, which was disturbing. Overall, my experience was not the best

Wow, excellent four night stay at this beautifully situated, elegant hotel just a stroll along the river to the bright lights of Berlin. We received a warm welcome at the door on arrival and the warmth continued. The staff are laid back and professional at the same time, not easy to get right! The breakfast was full of choice and delicious. The waitresses are great fun and very attentive. The reception team are really helpful and made sure we left each morning in a positive and happy frame of mind. Fully recommend as a great base for a Berlin visit.

Exceptional hotel

We stayed here with our infant son early December to celebrate my partners birthday. The hotel itself was in an imposing building with an impressive lobby. We stayed in a junior suite looking out onto the tier garden and it was an absolutely stunning room. Bed was very comfortable and there was ample space for a travel cot, which was also very cosy for our little one ( hotel provided a super cute baby bathrobe and slippers!). Bathroom was huge with lots of amenities though it was tricky at times to pull the very heavy door across the bathroom to give some privacy when showering (the rolling mechanism was a little stiff). Breakfast was exceptional with a cooked menu as well as plenty continental fare. The staff were incredibly helpful with our little one and really made a fuss over him during service. As we needed to be in the room early evening for our son, we had lots of space to read and play cards although we failed at watching any TV / movies as the TV channels were all in dubbed German and it wasn’t possible to screen mirror with Apple devices. The hotel is well located and we walked everywhere as a result instead of taking public transport. Overall it was a wonderful stay in a truly exceptional hotel.

Extremely unprofessional staff and awful service. The reception just blatantly lied about available upgrades which I was entitled to as an Accor platinum member and then only offered it after I showed availability on their app. Moreover the breakfast had extremely poor selection of items and staff seemed highly unprofessional in general. In addition they charge extremely high fees for parking and will try overcharge you where they can. Stay away.
