Banyan Tree Sanya

Another fabulous stay at the Banyan Tree Sanya. We first visited this luxurious resort the year prior, coming back again hoping for the same refined experience - the Banyan Sanya team delivered beyond expectations. On arrival the concierge and porters were polite, professional and welcomed us with warm smiles. To our delight, we were greeted with a familiar face from our last visit - the lovely Hickey from the Front Office team, who was quick to settle us in and drive us to our villa via buggy. Our villa featured a relaxing 1.5m deep private pool and sunbed including a huge outdoor bathtub - perfect to wash away the stress of city life. Upon entry, the room was filled with the aroma of Banyan's signature essential oils, the bathroom was spacious and the king bed blissfully comfortable. Breakfast each morning ran until 11am, which allowed for a lie-in. Food offerings were abundant and varied to suit Western and Asian palates - we loved the Hainan specialty noodles! Special mention goes out to Chefs Mark & Louis for the warm hospitality both during breakfast service and the evening beachside barbecue. F&B Manager, Mr. Tim Bu, was a most gracious host, ensuring that all questions and requests were promptly answered (which included the smooth organisation of our in-villa private poolside barbecue). The private beach is pristine with gentle waves and shady cabanas - a true privilege compared to other beaches in Sanya. We recommend the "Floating" Afternoon Tea after soaking in the sunrays - this is afternoon tea (literally floating) on a rattan platform in your villa pool (amazing!) Many thanks to Front Office Manager, Spencer, for arranging this for us. We'll definitely be back again soon!

Having travelled extensively in Asia over the past decades, I appreciate privacy and tranquility on my holidays. And, no one can be on Covid- alert for 24 hours, for 2,5 years now. It’s great to be away from crowd and noise, and listen to the jungle whilst enjoying 5* service - if you need. Property is huge for the amount of people in, it’s good to concentrate all eating needs on one restaurant and a very nice beach buffet and beach bar! The Beach is lovely, though not a beach for swimming. Clearwater Bay is an hour drive, and has completely empty endless sand and palms, and no people! Don’t expect a Resort hotel with 1000’s of people, instead you find a diamond of a boutique style (family-like) place, with a lot of tiny beautiful things to explore. I love the jungle, and well maintained garden- style public areas and pavilions. The breakfast room was spacious, and food nicely prepared and personalized. (If I would manage F&B, I would consider to change the coffee machine and the bean supplier, though) IMO there is no need to have TV in the room (in any hotel) - in here, the TV unfortunately was even blocking the view to the pool from the large windows, and the cables were seen from the outside. Same no need for WiFi … Those who want internet can bring their phone. It was an overall very satisfying experience, I didn’t know such places still exist in China. It shares the outstanding standards with the Capella in Tufu bay and the Anantara’s you find in Thailand. As just as happy as I am now, I just extended my 2-day stay to 4. I may even stay longer… or come back.

You pay for the privacy. Vilas with private swimming pool and Jacuzzi. Spacious. A lot of fine details inside the room. The food from the menu is also quite good. The surrounding hotel environmental is beautiful green! Lovely beachfront sunsets. On the minus side the breakfast canteen is really a canteen, gym gear is old, the beach front water is full of plastic things floating not advised for swimming. A bit too pricy just for the villa experience! This resort would need a refresh.

Thank you to the charming Hicky for the smooth check-in and local seafood recommendation. Daily breakfast selection was excellent, particularly the noodles and pastries. Bright friendly greeting from Selina who remembered our coffee prefs every morning. The villa was perfection - clean, comfy and private. Beach was quiet and the entire property felt tranquil. Very few noisy children!!! Special thanks to Jim for arranging our in-villa private BBQ dinner. 5* service and quality all around. We will be back.

Was the 4th time I’ve been in this resort. I love banyan tree and especially this one, in sanya. All the villas are fabulous and the common areas are always quiet and special. The private beach is really private and the sunset is stunning. The staff is fantastic! Spencer is the best! was always there for us. Everyone speaks English. Food and drinks are at good price. We had dinner in our room and was fabulous. Highly recommended! We will definitely go there again.
