What more can one say than Wow! We stayed here for four nights with our 1 1/2-year-old daughter and had perhaps the best hotel experience we've ever had. The service was world-class and the food was fantastic. We love food and must say that the cuisine was amazing! I don't think we've ever stayed at a hotel with restaurants of this level. We stayed in a fantastic villa with our own pool. If I could give it a 6/5, I would!

We stayed at Banyan Tree for 4 nights with our 1 1/2 y old daughter. The only bad thing with our stay was that we had to leave. Everything was just wow. The food was fantastic, even in “non-hotel-restaurant”- comparison. The service was 11/10 and everyone was so friendly to our daughter! All food for our daughter was free of charge and they prepared some special meals just for here. Just wow. We had to dig deep to find anything not perfect with it. And perhaps some of the part in the villa exposed to sunlight and moisture was getting a little bit torn. But the villa was fantastic, light the candles beside the ourdoor bath, jump in and just watch the stars. What an experience! At every turn down they give you a small gift If we could give 6/5 we would! If you planing a trip to Mexico stop this is a most!

We are lucky to have been coming to the Banyan Tree quite often from the very beginning. After an almost five-year hiatus, I’m thrilled to say that we’ve returned and it’s better than ever. From the airport pickup (in an immaculate, fully appointed van), to the seamless check-in (with complimentary margaritas and guacamole), to the spectacular villa (private yard and pool and additional casita), the professional and friendly staff does not miss a trick. Since out last visit, the property has expanded exponentially with a revamped beachside pool and dining options. The Sands restaurant and The Shack tapas bar are first-rate and feature something for everyone—fresh fish, vegetarian options, Mexico specialties and more. Like the rest of the resort, these new areas are immaculately appointed with beautiful furnishings and lighting. There is ample beach seating and cabanas, umbrellas and shade are readily available. Thanks to a government and Mayakoba-sponsored effort, much of the beach has been reclaimed and the pesky sargassum is at a minimum. Every inch of the Banyan Tree is a feast for the eyes. There is not a blade of grass out of place or a piece of trash to be seen. The public spaces are warm and well thought out, and as mentioned before the lighting is nothing short of gorgeous. The on-site restaurants do not disappoint. The sumptuous breakfast buffet sets the tone. Cello and Saffron are so beautifully designed that the delicious food only adds to the experience. Even a beachside snack delivered to our chair was a treat. The handsome staff is friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The answer is always “yes!” In keeping with its sustainability pledge, there isn’t a piece of styrofoam or plastic fork anywhere! It’s a true treat to be served a simple pizza on the beach and have it appear in a hand crafted wicker basket, with cloth napkins and cutlery. Wow… Be warned, the Banyan Tree price point is not for the faint of heart. The quoted room rate balloons quickly with those infamous “taxes and fees.” Food and beverage prices go from expensive to astronomical to offensive. Yes, this is the land of the $22 cocktail, $35 appetizer and $60 entree. Ouch. All that said, you DO get what you pay for. In my view it’s worth saving for the splurge. Can’t wait to return…

By far the best experience we had staying at Banyan Tree. Villa was just perfect where you can relax and very private as well. Food in all the restaurants was simply amazing and the service was five star. We will definitely be back.

The staff are amazing and the kinds nice and hospitalitly almosts feels too much at times. Its crazy how they just want you to not do anything and be happy. One thing I might say is - it’s best to use the bikes to get around the villas and lobby. Just easier than waiting for a golf cart. But only take a golf cart to the beach as its far to ride from your villa. Drinks were great and the beach was very nice. I would suggest going to the beach early, enjoying the sunshine and ocean. Then leaving around 2 hours before sunset to enjoy your villa and private pool. Just make sure to also have them check its heated as you might want to jump in at night. Lastly cleaning is very good but just make sure to call them and to come after you have woken up and left for the day as if they come later when you are there it takes time….
