The RIXOS PREMIUM SEAGATE in Sharm el Sheikh does not live up to its advertised premium standard. This IS NOT A High-end RESORT!!!! We are a family of five from the UK. When a place says it is five-star, we expect it to be. We were excited for the trip, but only three days into our ten-day holiday, I already feel compelled to share our experiences. We booked through a third party and specified that we are two adults and three young children, ages 11 to 6. What we found: The ROOMS: Upon arrival, we discovered there were not enough beds for our family. There was a double bed for my wife and me and two beds for two of the children, but no third bed. The staff promised to add a camp bed, which was squeezed awkwardly into a corner, barely fitting with the existing furniture. This cramped arrangement is not what we would expect from a five-star resort. As a family resort, we expected several UK channels in addition to CNN and BBC World News. There were over 50 channels and only two were kids' TV channels, and the rest were Arabic or Middle Eastern. STAFF: 90% Most of the staff were unresponsive and standoffish, though a small number were great. Most staff seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than in focusing on guests. On several occasions, we saw staff arguing in front of guests. I am not sure if it was personal or work-related, but it was clear their attention was not on the guests. The service is slow and generally lacks a welcoming manner. FOOD & DRINK: The food in the main restaurant, Turquoise Restaurant, was very bland and basic. The house wine was undrinkable, and service was slow. There are 12+ additional à la carte restaurants you can visit in addition to the main buffet. Booking one of these à la carte restaurants requires you to reserve after 4 pm the day before. You are encouraged to do this online, or you can go to guest relations. If you book through the app and are ten minutes late, you miss out on a spot. The other option is to go to Guest Relations, it is a long walk to reception, and you will likely wait in line for several minutes. Not what you want to be doing on your holiday. In these al la carte restaurants, you can upgrade the wine but the prices are extremely high. For example, a bottle that costs £30 in UK supermarkets was £200 here. This process is inconvenient and falls short of the expectations of a five-star resort. The bars and restaurants promote freshly made juices like mango and strawberry, etc, but we found that the juices often come from carts. Not good. KIDS SERVICES: The kids' club is spacious but lacks energy and enthusiasm. Staff were disengaged, and the activities were basic. There were four PlayStation terminals in the main club and three in the Aqua area, but none functioned properly. The staff couldn’t operate them properly, and it was ultimately very disappointing. The game zone in the Aqua section features arcade games and simulators, but they are all very outdated and frequently out of order. In the large Aqua park, many slides were closed for much of the day, and the staff were disconnected from the guests' needs. Overall, the kids' activities are limited and unengaging. HOTEL SERVICES: The resort advertises all-inclusive five-star amenities. There are eight plus bars, but only the reception bar serves premium spirits. This is an all-inclusive resort, so it is unclear why this is not available at all bars???? This resort is known for one of the longest piers out to the coral reefs. I was excited to take the kids out to snorkel, but on arrival, I found it was closed halfway for maintenance, scheduled to last several weeks. We were offered a 15-minute bus ride to the sister resort to do it there. Several service points, such as ice cream and food kiosks, were also closed, making the resort feel half-shut down. Several food service areas, including ice cream parlours and food stands, were closed during our stay. This made it feel like parts of the resort were not operating. There is a large food court , which is the only other option for lunch other than the main buffet. The food was very poor and we found the birds eating the food behind the counters. OUR ACTION: We contacted the general manager to discuss these issues. He was apologetic and said he would address the room problem. He offered us an alternative: a double room of the same size in the next building, but with an extra single bed in the main bedroom. This was not the solution we wanted, as we did not want one of our kids in our room. He sent us some complimentary fruit and nuts as a gesture, but that doesn’t solve our issues! The saga continues…….

My experience at the hotel was wonderful. The staff service was excellent. The hotel has many beautiful and relaxing areas. The entertainment team was fantastic with their activities, and the shows were spectacular—so much talent! In short, the whole experience was a 10 out of 10. I hope to return soon. Excellent staff, especially the entertainment team. Food amazing apart from an incident in the snack bar. Lovely drinks too and the lobby bar staff are amazing.
