Amazing staff! Breakfast was delicious. The Club Lounge at the 51 floor is worth every penny - and it is free for ALL Platinum members. Forget the Sofitel Downtown, this is currently the best hotel in Dubai

We booked a room with panoramic views and the windows were really dirty. Bad fulfillment of the protocol against Covid. Dirty lobby. Room service at 18:00h. Nice reception, the only good positive issue.

We had a wonderful stay at the Sofitel The Obelisk. We were in a Luxury Club Room on the 21st Floor with a stunning view of the Burj and Downtown. The room was immaculate and the staff throughout were incredibly welcoming, from reception to the team in the Brasserie. I would highly recommend the hotel!

Since my first stay in the sofitel obelisk i loved the hotel for its location and how comfortable it is .staff are so friendly and helpful.I was so frustrated in my last stay as i was given a smaller room than the one i expected and booked and it needed so much time to be changed to be bigger room .Other than that the hotel ambience and service is so wonderful.

I stayed here because this was the nearest hotel to my wisdom tooth extraction clinic. First of all, I want to acknowledge the housekeeping team, the IRD team for my ice bucket and lemon slices (prevent my face from swelling), the Front Office team for being responsive, the service team was outstanding especially at Taiko restaurant. Shout out to Rubina and Marco, I will create another review directly to the Taiko page. During my last day, I had my breakfast at the club lounge. Thankfully, my wisdom tooth extraction was not that bad, with no stitches so I was able to eat my breakfast slowly. Then I saw a strand of something (I thought at first it was hair) that's why I called the female personnel in the lounge and asked what it was. It was quite funny coz she told me it is a mushroom. Anyway, she took the plate and told me she will ask/inform the chef then I left coz I want to rest in my room. A few hours later, a Filipino staff called me through the phone and started apologizing and he clearly said that it was not a hair so, end of the story. During my check out at the club lounge, Harish, (I’m bad with names) the supervisor did my check out. He asked me if I wanted to join the afternoon tea and I responded, “unfortunately no, I won’t be able to join, thank you.” Then I asked him, did your associate inform you about my breakfast? Harish responded yes, he did. For me, as a supervisor/manager, he should be the one who will settle any complaints from any guests within his outlet. I asked him why he wasn’t able to call me personally to clarify my concern. He responded, “I was cleaning/buzzing out a table that time, and he’s Filipino so you will have better communication”. I do understand that most cases of complaints were easier to settle when speaking with your same nationality/language however, he will not address my concern if I didn’t open it up during my check out. I felt maybe because I was the only Filipino guest there, I might be less important than the other guests. I believe, GSAs will make or break the whole guest experience of the guest and this time, Harish made me feel like I should be treated lesser than the other guests in that outlet. That this Filipino will not make any fuss about his experience because he just can't. Again, Kudos to all of your team members who made my stay wonderful. Let’s give everyone the Heartist experience we want our guest to experience upon stepping into your hotel.

Could of been much better

From the onset of checking in, the room at time of booking was described as 1 king bed and 1 double but during checkin was informed that it was 2 single beds so I had to pay 300 more to upgrade the room. In the room fridgerator and sound system did not work and when I requested to fix it, they did not untill i had to follow up multiple times. Childrens play area not open yet and many maintenance people walking around making it uncomfortable. Adult pool and food service was good. Breakfast was brilliant and highlight of our stay. During checkout duty manager apologized and promised to write me an email and offer me free upgrade and a better stay but to date received nothing. Very poor at maintaining commitments.

Stayed for one night with a friend and we had an amazing time. We esp loved the pool area as the drinks and food are reasonably priced. Breakfast was another highlight of our stay. Cannot wait to return to the Sofitel Obelisk.

An awesome structure made even more iconic by what hits the eye several minutes before I arrived...an Obelisk seemingly floating in a void. This brand new hotel is situated in a most aesthetically appealing neighborhood that’s interlinked with luxury apartment blocks, majestic symbols of ancient Egypt, another monumental hotel adjacent, a health eco system and a one stop mall called Wafi. All this in a location that straddles “old” and “new” Dubai. The thoughtful vision behind what is probably the last piece of the jigsaw as repressed in the Sofitel obelisk could not have been by accident. The interior does not disappoint either. Majestic entrance and lobby ushers one into intertwined lounges, cafes , restaurants and the reception and the bank of state of the art elevators are just behind an imposing wall waiting to whisk one up to the splendid rooms and suites within 50floors. A further floor lands one on an executive lounge that’s a joy to behold for its unmatched views and the splendor comfort and quality of service offered by its very warm and welcoming team. The rooms and suites are top notch in all ramifications and a pleasure to luxuriate in. This hotel will be the toast of Dubai...undoubtedly. I give kudos to the lovely team on the 51st floor. Madonna is a joy to meet. Exceptional warmth and so helpful as is her colleague Charm. William at the bar always made my evenings so memorable with his helpful suggestions on the best drinks and mixes. My 23 year old daughter who came to visit was especially enthralled with his mock tails and also the quality and taste of food served over happy hour. Salute to Vishnu a top notch butler and all the waiters. Pls keep it up. In room dining, Laundary and housekeeping all score a 5* on my scorecard. Francis and his colleague at the concierge and valet section deserve top commendation for their courtesy professionalism and knowledge. I’m looking forward to my next stay in March.

We booked for 2 nights and ended up staying 7 nights. The Pool area is great as is the Lounge on the 51st floor- great views. All the staff are excellent. The Wafi Mall next door is small but has quite a few things in it, or just get a cab to the huge Dubai Mall. Will definitely come back.

A few terrible club and hotel staff

I have to say the hotel is new and with that comes cleanliness and nice modern rooms. However some of the staff at the property definitely do not have the mentality "the customer comes first" . Club is hit and miss, concierge know very little about what is going on ie we have been at hotel for a month and they have no clue about tourist visa extensions set out by UAE govt apart from what we research and tell them!!? Snacks and drinks for breakfast can take 45 mins from order to actually come to your table so it definitely isn't the best customer service. Kids club which we have been using is open 9-9pm bieber they can just at any point is closing at 730pm tonight advising you at 6:00pm without much notice at all. The prison head is kids club is definitely not trained and activities are not followed according to plan and its really boring activities. I'm not sure the staff hired for 6th are the best. Lifeguards say its not our responsibility if anything happens, kids shouldn't be left alone and it's parents supervision only!! Mentality of staff is horrible in many ways... Then some people get 30%off food and beverage, long term stays for 1.5 months the heads said 25% off max, all club friends are getting 30% and staying much less time than us... Unbelievable!!!?? Cleaners change constantly but they are very good and listen to what you say. In room dining staff is medicoe at best getting orders wrong depending on who answers the phone, one fellow is quite difficult. I would say the hotel is nice, stag definitely need training in a huge way, I'm thinking leaders are great for all divisions to all be pretty poor concierge, club, in room dining, concierge, just cleaners are very good overall.

I originally checked in for 4 nights in 2nd week of January with my family but as I kept extending my tickets,I kept extending the stay at the Sofitel. Hotel is new and modern but the service from all the staff was excellent, from Reception to the main restaurant. The breakfast was great and the breakfast staff provided a very personal service and were dressed very smart. Will definitely use this hotel again for our city stay in Dubai as we are regular visitors to Dubai

What an amazing stay, such a beautiful place, grand entrance makes fantastic impression, the reception staff-exceptional Aurielle, Fatima and Daria, club lounge had great facilities and the view to die for!But more importantly we loved the staff -William, Ramesh, Madonna!Cleaners were superb and so helpful and thoughtful! During our long stay in Dubai we were coming back there twice what is unusual so it is fabulous place to go!Thank you
