What a fantastic hotel. A short walk from the centre of town, the hotel has plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, but that's not the attraction. Our room was comfortable, with everything we needed for a short stay, and a definite retro feel. The staff were great, the breakfast was outstanding and if you eat too much, you can always burn some calories with the running club, or relax in the sauna. The foyer is great, with a small shop and a couple of free games to entertain you, and a cafe etc if you fancy a snack. Overall, we loved it!

Not your average hotel room – which is meant as a compliment, by the way. The entire hotel is decorated in retro style, including the rooms. It was very nice. The room was very spacious (we had an Extra Large room), with a beautiful and comfortable shower and bath. The hotel is within walking distance of various centres. Cologne Cathedral is a 10-minute walk away.

My daughter and I stayed 3 nights to experience the Cologne Christmas markets. The hotel was in a peaceful area, easy walking to all the sites. Very comfy beds and one of the best hotel showers. The thoughtful loan of a quality tote bag was much appreciated. We also enjoyed the trio of hummus and cocktails on the 8th floor.

We booked a room that specifically said it had a double bed, but arrived to find two singles pushed together with two single doonas. They did replace it with proper double bedding the next day, but we shouldn’t have had to ask in the first place. The hotel advertises a bar and restaurant on the top floor. There’s no room service, which is fine, but when we went to the bar at 5pm on a Sunday, we were told there was a private function. So we tried the restaurant instead—completely empty, not a single person seated—and were told they were “fully booked” and to come back another day. The next morning we went to the hotel café and couldn’t find a single place to sit… not because it was busy with guests, but because people working there were taking up the tables. Location is average, customer service is basically non-existent, and while the rooms were clean, that’s the only positive thing I can say. I wouldn’t return and definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

Location is great. We were able to walk to all the Christmas markets easily. The hotel is super unique and fun. Breakfast was ok (expensive if you ask me). Front desk staff wasn’t very friendly or helpful at all when asked for restaurant recommendations. Maybe that’s just the German way? Room were nice & clean. Only gripe is, if you’re traveling with friends and shower situation is a little odd, a curtain KIND OF conceals the all glass shower but not if the other person wants to walk to the toilet. Noise level was fine, didn’t hear much of anyone else. Bar was too full on a Friday night for us to have a drink, which was a bummer. Shower had shampoo but no conditioner.
