Staff was very welcoming and helpful. We had a room on an upper floor with a view of town. Plenty of space and very comfortable. Great breakfast. It's an easy walk from the train station and from the city center/cathedral area. Many good restaurants nearby. Would gladly stay here again.

This is a hotel of 2 stars level, no more. It is not so centrally located, there is a 15 minutes walk to the center. Rooms are basic and down, internet is not working in a consistent way, it is too weak. Sink in bathroom- hard to use. Matresses are way too soft, there is no support for the back, I had a few sleepless nights, impossible to sleep on them. Full of noisy children, we did not use the bar because of the noise. Actually, there is not a proper bar, only a few chairs at the entrance. Breakfast is served in the same entrance area, on very small tables, everything is standard and down. All furniture is old and worn. And parking: they have a huge underground parking, why they start from the end to the entrance? Why to park so far and to drag the baggage all the way to the lift if all the other parking spots are free? This is their way of seeing things.... All in all, not the standard of Novotel.

We had a lovely experience at this hotel while visiting the Christmas market. A gentle walk from the train station to the hotel, which is surrounded by a residential area. Walked right around the corner to the first market. Most of all, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the hotel provided a solution for our family of three— large bed for the parents and a twin for the kiddo. Very happy with our stay.

Good location, just 5-10 minutes to walk to the old town. Check-in was easy! The super-friendly staff had our keys ready on arrival--all hotels should do this! The hotel has two swift lifts (unfortunately, one was broken during our stay, but it wasn't an issue for us). Our room was a decent size. The bed was comfortable and had non-feather pillows--great for allergy sufferers! There was a small shelf at each side of the bed that served as a nightstand. There was only a power outlet on one side of the bed; nice that there were USB ports at each bedside for charging, but an actual power outlet on both sides would be best for two people to charge devices at bedside. The room had a mini fridge. The bathroom had a bathtub and a large, separate shower with a shelf to store your own hair products & shaver. The shower water pressure was light but acceptable and the hot water stayed hot for the duration. The towels were a large and of ok thickness. Another hook would have been nice for two people to better hang towels. And while there was ample counterspace at the sink, there was nowhere to hang the hand towel; another small rack at the sink would be ideal. The wall-mounted magnifying mirror was a great touch! The WiFi was super strong (66mbps download & 44mbps upload) but not password protected (boo!). Yummy bakery around the corner next door. I've stayed at this hotel before and will happily return.

I am in two minds about this hotel. On one hand, the hotel is very modern and the rooms are very spacious, peaceful and quiet. The gym is very good, but it closes earlier than I would have liked. The staff and the manager tries hard to please their guests but at times, I felt it was understaffed. They have the same front desk staff servicing the bar and restaurant - I found that a bit bizarre and hence they could not always attend to both groups of customers. My room was ready when I had an early arrival which was greatly appreciated. The hotel was a bit basic for a four star hotel. I think it is more of a three star hotel. For example, they charge for basic things like hotel slippers which surprised me greatly. I have stayed at many four star hotels around the world and around Europe and nobody charges for slippers and maybe in France 'four star' means something different to other European countries but I felt this hotel was a bit stingy. It was modern, nice and new, and pleasant, but it felt more like a 'budget' hotel. I am not sure if there are that many modern hotels in Colmar. It may be that the choices are limited and the town is not used to modern hotel services. It is very close to the Old Town but not to supermarkets - you would need a car for that (or walk to the closest one about 15 mins away, but on Sunday everything is closed). Fresh bakeries are nearby but close early, especially Sundays. Would I stay here again? Maybe, not sure. I just felt there was a bit of resistance met by the staff whenever I asked about something compared to other hotels on my trip. The price was reasonable.
