What a horrible hotel. It is dark and gloomy everywhere, a perfect place for beg bugs, mites and all the other little bugs that made their way into multiple hotel rooms and left us with bites that required medical attention. The whole trip was ruined because of this hotel.

Dear friday13309, I’m very sorry to hear of your unpleasant experience whilst a guest in our hotel and I would like to re-assure you of the measures taken to prevent situations of this kind. Bed bugs are, unfortunately, becoming quite common throughout the hotel industry as they are introduced to hotel rooms via guests’ luggage and the increase in international travel in recent years means they spread far and wide. Accor hotels respond robustly and promptly to treat infestations as well as regular pest control checks by experienced technicians. I would like you to be re-assure you that bed bugs are not an indicator of poor hygiene. We do, however, understand that they are quite objectionable and can give you an unpleasant itch if you are bitten but they don’t carry diseases and aren’t a public health risk but some guests may experience a mild reaction such as watering eyes and swelling. I would like to thank you for bringing the problem you experienced to my attention, constructive feedback from our guests is invaluable to us in our constant efforts to assess and improve the services we provide. We stayed here last week for 3 nights. Very basic, yet functional hotel. Staff were very friendly. Elevators were small but prompt-never had to wait more than a few seconds. Breakfast was basic but did the trick. Location is very convenient to walk around Porto. An awesome market is just a block down the street. Loved our stay!

Avoid this hotel!!!! Dirty room, bedbug infestation, and dismissive management I stayed at ibis Porto Centro Mercado Do Bolhão in August 2025 and had one of the worst hotel experiences of my life. The room was dirty, full of dust, and it was clear that the cleaners had not cleaned properly. The bed sheets even had red stains, which a doctor later explained to us were linked to bedbugs. During our stay, both my partner and I suffered numerous bedbug bites – in groups of three, which a doctor explained is a sign of bedbugs – including on our faces. We counted more than 30 bites each. This was not only extremely painful but also embarrassing, forcing me to cancel work meetings. Nine days after leaving, I still have visible red marks on my skin and now need to see a dermatologist. The situation has caused huge disruption to our lives. All of our clothes had to be washed at 60 degrees to prevent further infestation, and we are still worried that the bugs may have travelled back with us. Our family holiday was completely ruined. To make matters worse, when we raised the issue, the hotel dismissed our complaints instead of taking real responsibility. Their “investigation” contradicted the obvious evidence we provided, including photographs of the bites. This experience has caused us stress, expense, and ongoing health concerns. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this hotel. Cleanliness and guest well-being are clearly not taken seriously here.

I arrived at the hotel and noticed an old lift door and push button, but just around the side and further round, there are two functioning lifts. Check-in was smooth with a good English speaker. My room was on the 4th Floor, which was a Superior double room. The balcony was not very wide, only looked on at the trees. My room only had one chair inside, but 2 with a table on the balcony. It seems my room and the room to the right of me were the only ones to have a shared balcony, but it had a planter in the middle, so it wasn't to bad. The bed was comfortable; it looked like a thin mattress topper on top of the mattress. Good night, sleep. The room was very clean hardly any dust. Large TV with a few English news channels. Plenty of storage, but only a few hangers and shelving. The toilet area was Spacious with a shower that had a rainfall style as well as a handheld attachment if required. No in-room safe/safety deposit box in the room, also didn't like not having a peephole on the door. One of the days I had signed on door to say I didn't want to be disturbed/ needing room cleaned cleaner saw me and asked if I required anything very unusual to find maids that speak English. One of my days, I asked for train information to get somewhere, and the receptionist got all the details I required. I didn't take breakfast, so I couldn't comment on that. Check in was fairly smooth they said I haven't paid for breakfast I took one of the morings my reply was I didn't have breakfast here, but she shorted that out. 5 5-minute walk to the food market. 5 Min Trindade station (which connects to the airport in 30 mins), 20 min walk to Sao Bento Station. 25 to 30 min walk to the riverside

A very friendly and welcoming hotel. We received a free upgrade on arrival, which was welcome as it was on the second floor. Breakfast was very good for an Ibis, fresh pastries and fruits. The location was a bit far from the centre but close enough. Beds were comfy, and the room was large. The only drawback was an annoying shower that soaked the whole bathroom without taking care.
