Ate at the Novotel restaurant one night, directly across from the Ibis. Restaurant and bar was serviced by one waitress, needless to say, service was terrible. The pork 'cheeks' (as per menu) were good, but my veal steak was tough, ordered the veal precisely because it's not supposed to be tough. Meal was to come with fries and a vegetable. Fries were Novotel's version of potato chips and did not get my vegetable until after finishing my veal and chips. Saw the assistant manager walking around told him what I thought of the service/food and he said they only had one server, exactly the problem, perhaps instead of walking around with his hands in his pocket he should have pitched in serving customers. Extremely poor customer service.

This hotels food is very expensive and some of the staff are very rude, I will not be coming here again. The pool was cloudy and ground floor rooms are noisy and outdated .Guests are constantly being told of for eating or drinking water not purchased at extortionate rates from the hotel

This hotel was the one of the cheapest when I booked, and for the price I would say it is very good. It is a bit dated, but it is clean, well maintained with good quality shower and kettle, fridge and safe in the room. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I did find my room to be quite warm, despite it being October, and the air conditioning was not very effective, I wouldn't want to stay here in the summer! I found the prices for dinner reasonable, perhaps more expensive than you can get elsewhere in Porto, but the food was very nice and it serves some authentic local dishes. However I did find that the buffet was overpriced.

The hotel is clean and has friendly staff , especially at the reception desk . The rooms are basic and needs a bit of freshening up . The pillows were not fit for purpose. Swimming pool was not usable and there is no gym. The breakfast spread is alright but becomes monotonous. I was disappointed by the bar as they had run out of draught beer by 8 pm in the evening. Location is not bad and is easily accessible from airport , motorway . There is no metro connection but there is a bus stop with regular buses to town. There is a big shopping centre nearby and a good fish restaurant in the village nearby. To summarise the Novotel is basic and needs some renovation.
