Great property with not so great staff.

Excellent property but a demotivated staff who does not care much about customer service. Our checkin was totally delayed as the staff insisted us on mandatory breakfast which was not a part of our package. They even forgot to serve us the welcome drink. Worst part is that garbage is burnt openly on the beach & water is only served in small plastic bottles during meals which are not eco friendly at all. Hope Accor group can adhere to more sustainable waste policies.

Dona Sylvia is an all round wonderful hotel. The grounds are beautiful and though quite a long transfer from the airport, once there it’s very well located with short walks to the stunning beach, the village shops, restaurants and bars and the beautiful River Sal. The food was delicious and I always found non spicy choices on offer. There were a number of weddings and functions on when we were there which could be a concern but the hotel was big enough to absorb them and we actually found them joyous, colourful occasions and provided an insight into an aspect of Indian culture. Last but not least,the staff were a credit to the hotel and also their country. Special mentions to Rohan, Jelano, Clyvon and Biswajit at the Amalia Bar, to Tanmoy, Ashita and Naong in The Seagull Restaurant, to Rakesh at Mamma Mia and our ever smiling room cleaner Rhys. We were very well supported by our great Tui rep, Karen and we will return.

Hotel and staff are amazing but ruined by constant weddings that go on for days and they take over the hotel and pools, unbelievably loud techno music all day and night. Shame. Is it a wedding venue or hotel? Can't have it as both. Be warned
