Can’t fault this hotel in any way, very classy and a five star experience all through. Helpful, English speaking front desk staff. Large rooms with all amenities. Nice buffet breakfast. Great swimming pool. Good location (we mostly went around by subway, convenient but crowded). Quite a bargain considering our low season rate through a booking site.

Didn’t Live Up to Fairmont Expectations

There’s a few issues and no one was able to resolve it whilst we were there! We were booked in for 5 nights but only stayed 4 because our flight from Shanghai was cancelled although not the hotel’s fault. When we checked in the following day, we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience to them for being a day late!! The receptionist couldn’t find our booking even after I rung them to advise that I would be coming the next day once I knew our flight was cancelled! The 2 receptionists that checked us in especially the one assisting Beata was so arrogant and rudely commented, just book them in any available room!! Secondly, no one offered the assist helping our luggage’s to our room once we got our keys to the room! Thirdly we were advised that we were upgraded to Fairmont Gold room which entitled us the use of the Lounge! When we went in to visit the lounge, we were rudely stopped and were embarrassed by the check in staff as he said “Don’t you know you cannot use this lounge as you’re not worthy!” May be it’s his language but no screaming was necessary! Fourthly, our room !! Where do I start? The air conditioning was faulty and I reported it on the first night and was told to open the window as there’s nothing they can do!! I asked for our room to be changed to one that has a working air conditioning unit but was refused and was told the whole hotel air conditioning unit is not working properly! The housekeeping was a hit and miss!! Occasionally we will get teas and coffee but sometimes we had to even called to ask for towels……. The restaurant - Lunar 8 where we dined in one night as we have USD100 to spend! Food and service was again hit and missed! The prawns dish came burnt and when I requested for it to be changed, we were told sorry, there’s nothing wrong with that dish and it’s fine for us to eat! I have photos and can be provided if required Enough said!! Not using Fairmont again….!! So disappointed that it ruined our expectations!

Nice stay in Beijing

We stayed 8 nights total with lounge access. The check-in process was remarkably efficient and attentive. Thanks to Ms Solar. The doormen were very polite and helpful (Tim and a tall young man with glasses). The rooms were spotless and comfortable. It was a total pleasure to stay at the Fairmont.

Disappointed stay needs to improve

My experience at the Fairmont, which is supposed to be a luxury hotel chain under Accor, was quite disappointing. As an Accor Gold Member, I expected better service. Upon check-in, which was after midnight, I received no room upgrade, no welcome drink, and was greeted by a rather unfriendly staff member. I was exhausted from my flight and just wanted to sleep. I was assigned Room 809, but sleeping was nearly impossible due to the noisy AC fan. The room wouldn’t cool down despite the outside temperature being around 8°C, and inside it felt like 30°C with no way to open a window for fresh air. After a long day touring the Great Wall, I complained about the room and requested a change, but was told the AC had been looked at. The second night was just as unbearable—far too hot, despite the outside temperature dropping to 0°C. Finally, on the last night, I was moved to Room 2210, which was better. Additionally, the shower in Room 809 had black and brown mold on the grout, which was disgusting. To top it off, I didn’t seem to receive any points for my stay. Breakfast on the final day was another letdown—there wasn’t enough food, and they didn’t replenish it. Overall, a very disappointing experience, especially from a hotel of this caliber.
