Best Wedding Decision We Made

トリップアドバイザーの評価 5.0/5

We had our wedding lunch banquet followed by 2 a night stay at Raffles Hotel. Everyone in the team, including the wedding coordinator, banquet manager, servers, bellboys, hotel butler, waiters and doormen were so nice and professional throughout our stay. We had a great time in Raffles, not just during the wedding banquet but during our two night stay as well. The charm of the building is unparalleled and the professionalism of the staff was impeccable. We congratulate the hotel on winning the 6th place in the World's Best 50 hotels. We think it is truly well-deserved!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Vikram is the beating heart of this opulent and iconic hotel

Colonial opulence in the heart of Singapore! Any trip to Singapore has to involve the most iconic hotel in the world, and our trip was no exception. Whilst we didn't stay here as guests, we did have a reservation in the Tiffin Room for dinner. We decided we would check the hotel location out prior to returning to our hotel to shower and change, and were so glad we did. On arrival we were so impressed with the facade and most impressed with Vikram. Who greeted us warmly, took photographs and chatted with us, making us feel most welcome. When we returned for dinner in the evening he did the same, by greeting us warmly, taking photographs and advising us where the Long Bar was for a Singapore Sling, which is a must, also how to get to the Tiffin Room for dinner. We enjoyed the best Singapore Sling we have ever had, the Long Bar is amazing and the nuts are fabulous. Our meal in the Tiffin Room was outstanding and the service was exemplary. Raffles transports you through time back to an era long past. The opulence of the interior is impressive, and the staff bring the beating heart into this iconic building. Vikram really is the epitome of genuine warmth, customer service, and professionalism and is a wonderful ambassador for the hotel and the Raffles brand. What a gem you have in Vikram Raffles Singapore! He made our visit exceptionally memorable and we will be forever grateful and will definitely return.

My sister and I stayed at Raffles Hotel Singapore for two days during the second half of August this year. The bottom line is a high level of enjoyment and a grade between very good and excellent but with some small comments for improvement. Arrival at the hotel was via Raffles Limousine which was waiting for us at Changi Airport and was part of a complimentary one-way limousine transfer that the hotel provides to its guests. The room we got was on the third floor and overlooked an inner garden and the neighborhood bordering the hotel. The room itself is huge with two huge and luxurious beds, and the bathroom was also large and spacious with a great and well designed and equipped bathtub and shower. On exiting the room to the balcony there were huge curtains from the very high ceiling and huge heavy doors creating an atmosphere of an old hotel. All the functions of the room - turning on the lights, turning on the air conditioner, television, etc. - are managed by a convenient tablet with a friendly and convenient application (but there is room for improvement, as I will write later) The breakfast was rich and high-quality, in the hotel's wonderful restaurant. And now some comments that I think need improvement - 1. The bathroom door - as part of the desire to emphasize the history and preservation of the hotel, the massive bathroom door of the bathroom is of the old type where the door frame (frames) are without any sealing means such as rubber and the like that silence every slamming of the door when entering and leaving the bathroom. During a given day this is not noticeable, but at night when your partner is sleeping and you have to go to the bathroom, every opening and closing causes noise due to the lack of insulating material between the door and the frames. Your partner does not enjoy this.... small rubber dots on the inner frame of the door or sealing strips will silence the problem. 2. Another problem that is characteristic of many hotels and not only Raffles Hotel Singapore is the lack of proper facilities to place the luggage of two adults who often travel with two large and heavy luggage. In the case of Raffles Hotel Singapore there is one folding facility (with stretchy leather straps) to place only one suitcase. It was appropriate that in a hotel like this and in huge rooms like the one we were in, there would be two facilities for two suitcases. 3. One of the nice things about Raffles Hotel Singapore, which is part of the hotel's great reputation, is the fact that each room and its guests has a dedicated butler who is committed to personal and great care (including providing amazing chocolates for the guest to taste at any time), but the reference to him - dialing the number 2 on the phone - only appears In tiny letters on the inside of the telephone earpiece, the size that requires a microscope to see them. Since the phone is not an ancient model (as part of the preservation and identity of the hotel's past) and is not a dial phone, and is a digital phone for all intents and purposes, it was expected that, as in other hotels, the phone would contain, in addition to the normal number keys, also direct dial keys for the various functions in the hotel: reception, personal butler etc. 4. As mentioned, the various functions are controlled by a tablet. Unfortunately, in our case, at some point the tablet stopped responding, and of course at the most inconvenient moments, when we wanted to turn off all the lights in the room and the TV and wanted go sleeping. Trying to find the master button of the room took some time, because it is not that accessible, and is in a certain drawer. But in addition to that, this "manual attempt" to turn off the electrical elements in the room ends in turning off all the lights, but not the TV!!! And here, following the difficulty in contacting the server (the phone problem), we had to go down to the reception and ask that they send a person to check the tablet problem. The technician who arrived (a little nervous for some reason), had to contact some central technical department and rebooted the tablet and it came back in place safely, but it is clear that the function of the master button can be improved so that it turns off all the electrical equipment, as well as everything surrounding the problem.

Best hotel we’ve stayed in

If you like historic heritage hotels, this must be on your bucket list. A very short review because, like Mary Poppins, it is simply perfect in every way. We had a personality suite (Rudyard Kipling) overlooking the Fountain courtyard. Flawless.

Over-hyped

Having stayed at some of the other Grande Dame hotels in South East Asia, namely the Oriental in Bangkok and the Sofitel Legend Metropole in Hanoi, which were amazing, we had high expectations and were excited for our stay. Unfortunately, they were not met. Check-in was chaotic and unorganized. Tourists are everywhere, taking pictures and afternoon tea is being served in the lobby area. It is very chaotic. We were not allowed to check in to our room because check-in is at 3PM and it was 2:35PM. Which really was ridiculous, but we we had a long travel day and were hungry so we asked about grabbing a late lunch in the hotel. The only place that serves food at that time, was in their Courtyard restaurant. We were escorted to the restaurant and asked if we preferred that someone personally come get us when we could check in to our room, or receive a text. We opted for someone to come and get us, so we could eat and relax without our phones being out. The Courtyard was extremely hot, as its outside in the blazing Singapore sun, no fans etc. The food and service however were very good. No one ever came to tell us we could check in nor did we receive a text.... Back to the lobby we went, now that is was 4PM, we were shown to our room. We booked a Palm Court Suite. The room was beautiful. The butler showed us around and made reservations for us at the Long Bar and confirmed our car transfer to airport in the morning. The Long Bar was great, it has a nice atmosphere and of course its very touristy, but it was fun and the Singapore Sling was very good. We decided to try the Writers Bar next, which was beautiful and has a great moody vibe. The cocktails were excellent as was the service. Back to the room around 9PM and no turn down service was provided. For the amount of money we paid for this suite, I would have expected turn down. We had a 9:30AM international flight the next morning, unfortunately the breakfast room does not open till 7AM. Several guests also had morning flights and were standing in line at theTiffin Room...no one was allowed into the room until precisely 7AM. A ridiculous policy, open the breakfast room at 6:30AM for at least coffee. The breakfast is completely inadequate for a hotel of the stature. Some cold cuts of meat, cold quiche, fruit, bread and some juices. Shocking really. Unfortunately, the Raffles Singapore did not live up to the high expectations. Way too many service misses and glitches. Its such a popular and legendary hotel that they do not need to have superior service any longer, and they are resting on name and laurels. I would not stay here again, the Fullerton was superior in every way. See my review.
