Another Extraordinary Stay with Swissotel Osaka! Amazing, Friendly, Above & Beyond service by all the Swiss Staff. Big shout out to Praveen Tiwari & the Front Office staff and Tya & the Executive Lounge Team. My room (on the newly remodeled floor) was comfortable, impeccably clean and quiet. I am always able to completely recharge from my tiring business trips when staying at the Swissotel Osaka. I really appreciated the prompt service to my room. Just one button push on the phone and whatever I needed was efficiently and happily brought to my door. I enthusiastically give my highest endorsement to the Swissotel Nankai Osaka.

Best Hotel! The location was amazing!! Staff was Awesome!! Food was good!! Can’t express enough about this place!!

Had a wonderful 4 night stay at SWISSÔTEL. Perfect location at namba station. So many shopping choices at Takashimaya and so many food options at the station. Excellent service from the hotel staff especially from Geoffrey (see photo) who was efficient at the front desk when checking us in and orienting us and very very excellent service by the concierge department who handled my requests most especially by Fran (see photo) for personally helping me with my 6 luggage all the way to the Rapit train itself on the actual train until our seats! Great work!

Mixed Experiences at Swissotel Osaka

Arriving at Swissotel Osaka via Nankai Train Station in Namba was a bit confusing at first, as the hotel lobby is on the 6th floor and can only be accessed through the building’s elevator. The hotel itself feels a little dated, with dim lighting that makes the ambiance a bit gloomy, especially at night. This was noticeable not just in the lobby but also in the hallways, rooms, and lounge—a refresh would definitely help bring some warmth to the space. That said, the location is fantastic—directly below Nankai Station and just a short walk to Dotonbori, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the area. Our 31st-floor room had a great view, which we appreciated, but it was quite far from the elevator, which my wife wasn’t a fan of. The Executive Club Lounge on the 33rd floor is smaller than expected, given the number of rooms in the hotel. The snacks and drinks were nice, but during evening cocktails, it got quite crowded. In particular, there was a group of about 10 people laughing and talking loudly, making it difficult to enjoy the space. Afternoon Tea, on the other hand, was much quieter and more relaxing. Since we had a packed itinerary, we didn’t get to use the lounge much, but it was a nice option to have. Breakfast at Table 36 was one of the highlights of our stay. The restaurant is spacious, with stunning 360-degree city views, and the food selection was fantastic, lots of variety and several Nespresso machines for coffee lovers like me. Safe to say, everything we tried was delicious! Concerns Encountered Room Charge Issue: We ordered an in-room dining drink and were surprised that we had to pay immediately, as they couldn’t charge it to our room. The next morning at breakfast, I noticed my profile said "No Credit", which seemed odd. After checking with the staff, I learned that the trainee at check-in forgot to charge a room deposit, which is why our room wasn’t set up for credit billing. A quick visit to the front desk resolved it, but it was still an unexpected inconvenience. Spa Booking & Accor Points: We booked a $230+ spa treatment, expecting to earn Accor points to maintain my Diamond membership. However, we later found out that the spa is run by a third party, meaning no points were awarded. It would have been helpful if this had been clearly mentioned during booking, especially since we were told that Accor members get a 20% discount, which led us to assume it was the standard 20% discount for the members. Missing Money: I debated for a long time whether to include this in my review, as it’s a serious accusation, but I feel it’s important to share as a lesson for fellow travelers. The night before, I left my wallet on the table near my laptop after making an online purchase. I always make it a habit to record my expenses and count my cash every night, so I was absolutely sure of how much money I had. The next morning, after having breakfast past 10 AM, we returned to our room and were surprised to see housekeeping already cleaning. From my experience in other hotels, rooms are usually cleaned after lunch, so I wasn’t expecting them so early. I stepped inside briefly to grab chocolates from my country, which I usually leave as a small gesture of appreciation for housekeeping. At the time, the female staff was in the bathroom, while the male staff was in the bedroom/living area but had stepped out to retrieve something. As I left, I gave chocolates to the male staff when he returned, and he greeted us. We let them finish cleaning and came back about 15 minutes later. An hour after that, while getting ready to leave for a city tour, I noticed my wallet was still on the table. Just to be sure, I checked my money—and 10,000 yen was missing. Because I had counted my money the night before, I knew for certain that the amount was gone. I immediately reported it to the supervisor, who came to our room right away and took my statement. Later that day, I received a letter stating that they couldn’t verify any wrongdoing by housekeeping, and that based on their hallway CCTV review, no unusual activity was observed. While I appreciate the quick response, this experience was a hard reminder to always be careful with personal belongings—even if just stepping out for a short while. Despite the setbacks, there were still moments that stood out in a good way. A special mention goes to Deepak from the concierge, who was extremely helpful. I had an Amazon package marked as delivered, but when I went to the concierge to pick it up, it wasn’t there. Deepak and his team went above and beyond, they checked storage and the delivery area, called Amazon and the shipping company, and after a few hours, they emailed me and informed me that the package has delivered and ready for pick-up in the conceirg. That level of service was genuinely appreciated. One of the biggest perks of Swissotel Osaka is how easy it is to get to Kansai Airport. The Nankai Limited Express train from Namba Station (right below the hotel) only costs 1,490 yen and gets you to the airport in 40 minutes. It’s an effortless and stress-free way to catch a flight. While our stay had its fair share of challenges, I don’t want these unfortunate incidents to overshadow everything else we loved about Osaka. Swissotel Osaka has a great location and some good service moments, and for that reason, we’ve decided to give them another chance and stay again this April. We’re looking forward to our return and hoping for a much better experience next time.
