Our stay at the Fairmont Orchid was wonderful from start to finish. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and impeccably maintained, creating a peaceful and memorable setting throughout the resort. The staff were consistently warm, welcoming, and attentive, which made the experience even more special. This place also holds a very meaningful spot in our hearts since we were married here in April 2022, so returning felt incredibly personal. Every visit reminds us why we chose this location for such an important moment, and we’re always grateful for the care and hospitality we experience here.

It was a very comfortable and relaxed stay. It was especially thoughtful the bottle of wine that welcomed us when we first arrived to celebrate my birthday. I did not expect it because we booked through Costco and a lot of times the booking comments are not noticed. All the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Not only did they make sure we had a good experience on property, they also wanted us to enjoy the island. For example, Rose gave us a breakfast credit to the Deli because we couldn't make our daily complementary buffet due to an early start to visit the volcano. She wanted us to be well fed before heading out! Our friends and family have recommended the Orchid and they were spot on. We loved the location, beautiful grounds, and distance from the airport. We are planning to return to Kona in September 2026 and will be staying at the Orchid again!

Lovely oceanside resort on the North Kohala Coast. Very pricey.

We have been loyal Fairmont customers. However, this year we are beyond disappointed. We saw roaches roaming next to the elevators in the 5th floor of the North building and then in our bathroom. We ended up changing our room in a different building. The concierge now asks for tips which is a first as well. The room service burger was tasteless. The staff tried their best but I think it is not reflecting a 5 star hotel anymore.

Finding roaches near the elevator and in your bathroom is unacceptable, and we understand how unsettling that must have been. We assure you that we do everything we can to control unwanted pests, including regularly treating the exterior of all buildings and the interior of all guest rooms. We are also sorry for the discomfort caused by the concierge’s request for tips and for the disappointing room service meal. Gratuity is part of the concierge's credit card processing system and is completely discretionary. While we're grateful to hear our staff tried their best, it’s clear we fell short in several areas. Please accept our sincere apologies. We value your loyalty deeply, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you back and restore your confidence in us. I was happy with almost everything during my stay at the Fairmont Orchid. The only gripe I had was a somewhat disappointing concierge experience. When we arrived, the concierge was on the phone with another client, and when she hung up she apologized but also made a comment on how that client wouldn't stop talking. In attempting to book a whale watching tour, we requested a 145 PM time. The concierge employee booked at 9 but just crossed the time on our receipt out and said it was for 145 PM. The morning of the tour, I received voicemail about not being present and that they will go without us at 9 AM. This was distressing and I was busy at a conference so did not respond. When I called back, they quickly said "human error" from the tour group. When we arrived at 125PM for the 145 PM, they at first stated we were for a party of 1 (when we were 4 adults, and 1 child), and there was delay as they kept requesting for me to show the receipt. This was in front of the touring group and somewhat embarrassing, and created a delay of over 20 minutes before disembarking. I felt this experience could have been improved all around and it also created delays for other activities we had planned for the rest of the day. When we brought this back up to the same concierge staff, she promised she would talk to the manager the same day and get back to us. She never called back. I refuse to let this tarnish the whole hotel experience, but thought it was important you knew about the unacceptable service and experience we had.
