The property and facilities were beautiful and the service was excellent. The Gold floor was an over-all outstanding amenity, but the hot appetizers were poor, at best. In four days, 'chicken' skewers were served twice. The meat was dried out and NOT chicken. All the heated items seemed to have been prepared well in advance and reheated and reheated, definitely not up to Fairmont standards. Lower priced restaurant options should be available. There were some issues which, although resolved for us, should be addressed. Accor does not allow points to be earned if booking was through a third party while other hotels, such as Marriott, do. Jasmine was able to get points credited for expenses incurred but this should not be an exception. There is an 'honor bar' policy in the Gold floor concierge suite. The customer completes a drink form with their name, room #, and drink which is then placed on the tray. When we checked out the bar bill was higher than expected. Jasmine pulled the drink form in question and someone had added a drink to it. She removed it from our bill. There should be a more secure place, perhaps a closed box with a slot, to put the forms into so they can't be altered. I would not expect the staff to monitor who takes a form off the tray and amends it. Jasmine provided excellent service, was very accommodating and resolved any issues we had quickly.

We stayed at the Fairmont Orchid in September 2026 and had a wonderful time. We booked the gold package, so we were on the top floor in the north wing. We had read several reviews that said the property was a bit dated, and while I could sort of see their point, everything in our room was in perfect working order and spotlessly clean. The swimming lagoon was fun, the pool was great (as was the poolside service), and the landscaping was just amazing. Three things I really want to emphasize: 1) The Gold Package was definitely worth it. It was super-convenient for breakfast, and we had several of our evening meals there too. 2) There is not a huge choice of restaurants, and this was especially true with the Hale Kai being closed for renovations. And two of the restaurants (Orchid Court and Binchotan) were so difficult to find that we didn't find them until the day before we departed (admittedly, we weren't looking all that hard). So this made having the Gold Package even more worthwhile. 3) The thing that makes the Fairmont really stand out is their staff. I think it's their secret weapon. Everyone we encountered, and I mean everyone, was as nice and as helpful as you could ever want. And none of them seemed to have given in to "bureaucracy" -- in other words, when you asked for something, they didn't search for a reason why they couldn't do it. They genuinely tried to help. This sort of attitude is very rare these days. So is it perfect? No, there are some things here and there that are showing their age a bit, and the place could use another restaurant or two. Would I go back? In a heartbeat!

This was my 6th visit here and the first 5 were phenomenal. On this trip it felt more like a budget hotel than a 5 star. Lack of housekeeping services, main bar was torn down with only 12 seats at the beach bar. Very limited dining options. Guests were putting up tents on the beach, smoking and using motorized toys in the bay and when we inquired at the beach activity desk, we were told whatever. Large plastic toys on the lawn were an eyesore. We were just here a year ago and shocked to see how much had changed for the worse! Not worth the price tag at this time.

When we first arrived, we were disappointed with the room we were offered. We had specifically booked and paid extra for an ocean-view room, expecting to enjoy the view from inside rather than having to step onto the balcony and look sideways at an angle.
Fortunately, Ms. Rose, the night manager, took care of the situation with exceptional grace and care. She listened attentively to our concerns, understood exactly what we had expected, and promptly arranged a room that was much more to our liking. Her warmth, professionalism, and genuine determination to make things right stood out. She went above and beyond to ensure that my family felt comfortable and cared for, turning an initially disappointing arrival into a memorable example of outstanding hospitality.
We are deeply grateful to Ms. Rose for her kindness and for making such a meaningful difference in our stay. Thank you and we look forward to returning to the Fairmont Orchid for many more memorable visits. Mahalo!!

Sam & Jasmine & Lora were all fantastic and helpful. The 2600 rooms, which gave access to the Gold Room, were well worth the extra cost. However, the resort, parking, and additional fees made the bill grow out of proportion. The signage from Hwy 19 to the hotel is non-existent and needs improvement. Finding the hotel is a chore. Especially with the San Francisco plan arriving so late at night. In addition, there should be either a hotel shuttle or clearer directions to and from the hotel. Self-parking is overpriced. Taxis, Uber, or Lyft should have hotel announcements when a plane arrives at Kona with guests on board.

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel before and had a wonderful time. Because of that we choose to return, but sadly the management team seems to have lost focus.
One of ways to see the true nature of a hotel management team is how they handle special events. On our last full day the hotel hosted a wedding. The hotel closed the only portion of beach with any shade to accommodate the wedding party. No attempt was made to mitigate the impact on all the other paid guests. No communication about it. Nothing. The mgmt team makes decisions like to not provide any shade on the main beach. That's fine usually with the shady beach area to the side, but when you close that for an event, your customers are the ones dis-enfranchised. The same goes for pool side service. On our last trip we could get a drink at the pool bar and watch the sunset. Now the pool bar closes at 5pm. Walked over to the beach bar at 5:15pm to get a drink. 30+ people and one bartender. Waited 25min and gave-up, then went to lobby bar.
At breakfast service was seated at a table which turned broiling hot after 10min when the sun hit it. Plenty of other seats available but staff didn't seem to care. Also took 25min to get a coffee. Again, the restaurant was only 50% full at the time.
So sadly we will not be returning to this hotel.

Friendly staff. A shout out to Trey for very patiently handling our room assignment issues. Exceptional coffee -- don't ever change your bean! Good food and well kept grounds.Very clean. Great assortment at the breakfast buffet, but two issues. The breakfast checkin process was cumbersome, with occasional long wait times. There should be a way to discourage the numerous birds.

The facility and campus is beautiful. The luau was great. The staff was fantastic. The rooms are just ok. The AC in the room was not good. Beds were comfy. 24$ drinks with barely any alcohol is embarrassing and wrong.

Service was exceptional at Binchotan and orchid court. Especially Francis at binchotan and Nap at orchid court. Food from in room dining was cold on arrival. Tried to have a drink & light bites at luana lounge Saturday night Oct 17. Not a clean table in sight. About half the tables were empty of guests but full of dirty plates and glasses. After waiting 10 minutes we asked a server for a table. She said she needed a few minutes to bus a table for the two of us. We waited another 15 minutes before giving up. Other guests were also frustrated; one lady was seated and said she hadn’t seen a server in 20 minutes to place her order. We went down to binchotan shortly before they closed and explained what had happened. Francis was amazing and allowed us to order food off the upstairs menu since we had binchotan with her as our server the night before and we wanted something different for food. The experience at Luana lounge was the only unsatisfactory part of our stay. The service everywhere else (brown’s, brown’s deli, poolside bar, taco truck, resort activities - especially Elijah, front desk, and guest services) was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful.

Lovely comfortable room. Plenty of places to sit, beautifully decorated, surprisingly large bathroom which was very pleasant and ample closet space. Delightful welcome amenity. Excellent breakfast and evening canapés with deserts and attentive service. A bit of a wasteland between the two. A bit of fruit or fresh juice would have been nice to accompany the aptly named dry snacks. Concierge was hospitable and helpful. Pool service was excellent, we never had to search for a server or wait long for a drink. Always lots of ice water and sun tan lotion and helpful attendants. Sparkling pool and clean deck. Lovely grounds and ideal beach. Always a staff member close by if you need help. The shuttle is also really nice. We never waited long and the drivers were friendly and knowledgeable.

We stayed at the Fairmont Orchid in September 2026 and had a wonderful time. We booked the gold package, so we were on the top floor in the north wing. We had read several reviews that said the property was a bit dated, and while I could sort of see their point, everything in our room was in perfect working order and spotlessly clean. The swimming lagoon was fun, the pool was great (as was the poolside service), and the landscaping was just amazing. Three things I really want to emphasize: 1) The Gold Package was definitely worth it. It was super-convenient for breakfast, and we had several of our evening meals there too. 2) There is not a huge choice of restaurants, and this was especially true with the Hale Kai being closed for renovations. And two of the restaurants (Orchid Court and Binchotan) were so difficult to find that we didn't find them until the day before we departed (admittedly, we weren't looking all that hard). So this made having the Gold Package even more worthwhile. 3) The thing that makes the Fairmont really stand out is their staff. I think it's their secret weapon. Everyone we encountered, and I mean everyone, was as nice and as helpful as you could ever want. And none of them seemed to have given in to "bureaucracy" -- in other words, when you asked for something, they didn't search for a reason why they couldn't do it. They genuinely tried to help. This sort of attitude is very rare these days. So is it perfect? No, there are some things here and there that are showing their age a bit, and the place could use another restaurant or two. Would I go back? In a heartbeat!

This was my 6th visit here and the first 5 were phenomenal. On this trip it felt more like a budget hotel than a 5 star. Lack of housekeeping services, main bar was torn down with only 12 seats at the beach bar. Very limited dining options. Guests were putting up tents on the beach, smoking and using motorized toys in the bay and when we inquired at the beach activity desk, we were told whatever. Large plastic toys on the lawn were an eyesore. We were just here a year ago and shocked to see how much had changed for the worse! Not worth the price tag at this time.

When we first arrived, we were disappointed with the room we were offered. We had specifically booked and paid extra for an ocean-view room, expecting to enjoy the view from inside rather than having to step onto the balcony and look sideways at an angle.
Fortunately, Ms. Rose, the night manager, took care of the situation with exceptional grace and care. She listened attentively to our concerns, understood exactly what we had expected, and promptly arranged a room that was much more to our liking. Her warmth, professionalism, and genuine determination to make things right stood out. She went above and beyond to ensure that my family felt comfortable and cared for, turning an initially disappointing arrival into a memorable example of outstanding hospitality.
We are deeply grateful to Ms. Rose for her kindness and for making such a meaningful difference in our stay. Thank you and we look forward to returning to the Fairmont Orchid for many more memorable visits. Mahalo!!

Sam & Jasmine & Lora were all fantastic and helpful. The 2600 rooms, which gave access to the Gold Room, were well worth the extra cost. However, the resort, parking, and additional fees made the bill grow out of proportion. The signage from Hwy 19 to the hotel is non-existent and needs improvement. Finding the hotel is a chore. Especially with the San Francisco plan arriving so late at night. In addition, there should be either a hotel shuttle or clearer directions to and from the hotel. Self-parking is overpriced. Taxis, Uber, or Lyft should have hotel announcements when a plane arrives at Kona with guests on board.

We have stayed at the Fairmont multiple times and love the hotel. It was disappointing the outside restaurant was closed but can’t wait to see the new look. Our dinner at Browns was disappointing- it was not up to its usual quality.

Although an older resort, they do an amazing job with upkeep. This is our 3rd stay and I will say it is consistently well kept. We noticed workers constantly cleaning up around the resort. It’s such a beautiful and relaxing location. The staff is always so nice and helpful. How could they not be, they live in paradise. Will definitely be back.

Loved the resort and staff is amazing. Food and beverage outside of gold lounge is subpar. Luana lounge only has fried options. Binchotan rolls were very disappointing. Only tempura batter and no shrimp in two pieces of my big island roll and doused in very bland cracked pepper aoili. No light dinner options for days you don’t want to leave the property. Please remove water aerobics classes from the website and calendar and you do not have them due to no instructor. Very disappointed as that is important to me. Gold lounge staff is great. Not up to Fairmont standards.

We truly enjoyed our stay. The service staff was wonderful, our accomodations were very comfortable and any request was immediatley taken care of. We couldn't have had a nicer tennis getway. We stretched it to 5 days and appreciated every minute!
