I was expecting over the top luxury as I heard such great feedback about the FAIRMONT chain so I was a bit disappointed that Fairmont Orchid Hawaii did not deliver. While I was impressed they presented us with lei's upon arrival and upgraded us to a suite, I now know they put us there because we were directly adjacent to the multiple lawn parties from a Corporate Event. Needless to say, the suite was amazing and the parties were typically over by 9:30 pm so it wasn't that big of a deal. However, I think the Coporate takeover was too much for the staff to handle, as drinks & food were not picked up in a timely manner throughout the hotel (mainly in the North Tower areas...one 1/2 glass of champagne rested on a trash can for 2-1/2 days!!) Our package included the breakfast buffet (our server, Susan was EXCELLENT & did provide the 5* service: attentive, greeted us by name & remembered our drink orders), the food was pretty much the same day ofter day (with lots of flies hovering on/around the food). The beach hut had beach equipment/snorkels/etc (also included in our Costco package) and the attendant Sampson was the most friendly & charismatic emplyee at the hotel-we adored him! The lei making they offered was super fun and we were so happy to be a part of the May Day/Lei Day celebration. The shuttle service was a nice amenity as well & was very reliable and easy to catch. Our last meal was at Brown's Beach House, where the lobster was sub par, the filet was delicious and the coconut crème brûlée was OUT OF THIS WORLD, as well as the friendliness of the manager, Neil Patel. Bummer that we noted a birthday and they did not do anything special (the CanoeHouse brought us macaroons for dessert). The pool area could use a little attention-towels were left scattered around, one of the bathroom sinks was out of order the entire time of our stay & it lacked luster & class. I expected more from a "5 star resort" and think the Orchid could do better. It's a beautiful hotel but when you spend $13k a week to stay there, I wanted a TOP NOTCH week and they failed at offering us the special, extraordinary, luxurious spirit that they claim to execute. Not sure I'd give the FAIRMONT another chance :(

You should have been informed about the nearby corporate events, and the delays in clearing food and drinks, the condition of the buffet area, the missed birthday acknowledgment, and the upkeep of the pool facilities all fall short of the standards we aim to uphold. For a stay of this significance, you deserved a seamless, top‑tier experience, and we're sorry we failed to deliver that. Your feedback is invaluable, and we will be addressing these concerns with our team to ensure meaningful improvements. Property is beautiful, rooms are comfortable and staff are pleasant. Dining standards fall well short of expectations in any resort, let alone a 5 star resort. Browns location beautiful, food standard is horrible. Burrata and Beet salad arrived without Burrata. Mahi was overcooked and dry. Ribeye was tough and tasteless. Breakfast in bau cu chon - if you saw what the omelette looked like - you too would lose your appetite. Meals at the beach/pool- tasteless / dry . At the price you would be better served by going to a neighboring resort. Come on Fairmont you need to do much much better……
