Rude, Surly staff

TripAdvisor rating 1.0/5

Manctripper2014 TripAdvisor review

The majority of staff at this hotel must be costing the business millions in repeat bookings. Hardly any staff smile at you, you are treated like an inconvenience despite being overly polite yourself. I think there are a few influential staff that make their understudies feel that it is 'not cool' to be friendly and accomodating - we won't be back, as I'm sure many other guests I've seen rolling their eyes at the lack of customer service won't either. There is one lady, I think she is called Alison, that served us at dinner pool restaurant who is very rude, she told us that a reservation was not a reservation, it was just to inform the restaurant who might be coming! She also scolded my wife at breakfast this morning for daring to suggest that the table.might be large enough for four "I do know what I am saying!" before slamming down place settings in a temper - she is called Alison, I guess that she has lots of complaints made about her, I wouldn't pay her in washers...

Sub par hotel that needs desperate intervention

I’ll be honest and frank with this. Chose this hotel because our cruise line (Seabourn) recommended it. $1500 plus a night for our two night stay. Firstly the room: King bed oceanfront. Nice room, comfortable and clean, certainly not outstanding in any way, view is lovely. Kettle don’t work in room and no room service menu. I asked a total of FIVE times for one to be provided. Still did not get one. Pool restaurant: Went there at 5.30pm, barely greeted by hostess, told to sit at a table that had no chairs.. Ordered food. Two appetizers and two cokes came to $188!!!!!!’ Food ordered. Nachos and crab cakes. Breakfast Buffett: Nice location and view . That’s the good part. Went to station to order eggs . Omelette took twenty mins to appear, husband two ro eggs took over thirty. Tea was lukewarm. Ketchup took a while to appear Breakfast was included and I’m glad it was. $160 was the charge if we didn’t have it included. Room service: just ordered two burgers and fries with two cokes. $168 for two burgers. Food was inedible. I’ve had better food from a gas station. All in all this hotel is below average in the service and food areas. Way too high prices for food that honestly isn’t up to McDonald’s standards if I’m being totally truthful. Staff are polite and pool guys are attentive BUT service is lacking in many areas and I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone. Overpriced and underdeliver comes to mind

As stated above the hotel is experiencing short term problems. The fine dining area and breakfast area were closed due to problems not disclosed. We were not made aware of this closure prior to arriving. There all dining including breakfast were limited to on area. The breakfast range and quality fell well short of our expections for a 5 star hotel as did the menu offered for lunch and dinner ( same menu). Very disappointing indeed and requires an urgent uplift to support the claims made in the hotels brochure. The sea facing rooms were very good as was the cleanliness and service. Generally the attitude and friendliness of the staff was very good.

A wonderful location on the West Coast of Barbados

We have just returned after another excellent stay at The Fairmont Royal Pavilion in Barbados. The hotel has a wonderful location right on what is the best beach on the west coast. We were again Royally looked after by Michael Sealy, who surly needs to be made the New General Manager. Assisted by many of staff, the hotel does all it can to provide you with the perfect holiday, and we look forward to returning again next year.
