Avoid, a grotty hotel located in a dump

Located only 2 minutes from the nearest Metro station, we thought we had landed lucky, but the strong smell of stale urine upon exiting the station was a precursor of things to come. The streets were strewn with rubbish, and rats were a common sight. Drunken, presumably African people, who seemed homeless, roamed the streets while others slept in the middle of the pavement. We saw one injecting heroin as we walked past him. They occasionally shouted abuse at us as we walked past. Groups of North African men stood in groups drinking outside the fast food shops and were extremely intimidating. The graffiti, boarded-up shops, and grotty roads just added to the horrible atmosphere. It resembled a third-world hellhole and is the price Paris is paying to be culturally enriched. The hotel is, sadly, in keeping with its surroundings. I was travelling with my wife and 2 children to Paris after a week in Disney. We booked this hotel as it was a little cheaper than the rest and had a deal for 2 connecting rooms for the same price. We presumed the lower price was due to the hotel being on the outskirts of Paris and not as centrally located. We didn’t think it was because it was a small, cramped and filthy rundown hovel of a hotel that I would barely even expect from a budget brand. The room was too small to have 2 cases open in which meant having to constantly open and close them, and there was little space to manoeuvre around the floor. There are no drawers to store your clothing. The shower was filthy and covered in black mould. The floors were dirty and dusty. My 3-year-old daughter approached me asking if she could have a ‘sweet’ and produced a tablet from someone’s medication lying on the floor, clearly missed by the poor attempts at cleaning this room. There were brown streaks ( take a guess what that was) down the inside of the bathroom door. The wall my child's bed was sleeping against was covered in something white splashed all over it, unsure if this was bodily fluids or toiletries, but I asked the receptionist to help wash it off, which he managed some of. The mirror in the bedroom had been smashed and crudely taped back together again. There was a large crack on the wall next to the bed. The curtains were smeared with a black substance, and one had tears in it. The room doors didn't always lock properly, and the full-length window opened fully, exposing guests and young children to a 20-metre drop to the pavement. There was no shower gel in the dispensers, and those were never filled despite our repeated requests. The shower temperature controls had been previously broken and had never been repaired, meaning the water temperature was unpredictable, from cold to scalding hot in seconds. The shower head had 3 holes spraying water in all different directions other than ‘down’. At breakfast, some of the cutlery was encrusted in food, having not been cleaned properly. The breakfast staff were unhelpful and clearly only interested in finishing as quickly as possible by 11 am. The beds were not made up on day 2, nor were clean towels provided, despite these being left in the shower to indicate new ones were needed. I asked the receptionist if we could switch room but he said the hotel was full, he could arrange this for the next day but assured me the room would be the same size wise but assured me our room would be thoroughly cleaned. With this in mind, we decided to stay. The room was exactly as we had left it after the first night, without even toilet roll or towels being replaced. This squalor ruined our holiday. There was no room to keep our things, we were tripping over each other, and the dirt made me feel sick. Instead of coming back to the hotel at dinner time to freshen up and head back out as we would usually do, we stayed out all day, so we needed to spend as little time in the hotel as possible. Accor should also seriously consider removing the Styles branding and changing this to an Ibis Budget hotel. I dread to think what would have happened had my infant child mistakenly eaten someone’s medication left on the floor due to the hotel's failure to provide a clean room.

The walls are very thin. You can hear a normal conversation from in the hallway or the room beside you. We had two rooms. My shower was like a mist not a shower. We tried showering in the other room although it didn’t have a mist shower it was very small. This is a solid 2 star hotel. Not in a convenient location either.

Stayed for my birthday and worst experience. We were given the room key and went to the room and was dirty. Cleaner shouting no no no and then reception came up said they made a mistake and took our bags. Said when we will come back they will have it in our rooms. Went out for the day. Came back no bags. Guy wasn’t helpful and I’m diabetic and all my important stuff was missing. He was like nothing I can do. So unhelpful. I found my bags in a random room and worst experience I’ve ever had. They said sorry with a drink voucher lol joke. Hotel no where near the city. Breakfast didn’t have any warm food. Worst food and coffee horrible. Worst experience I’ve ever had by a hotel before don’t bother.

Recently stayed in the family room, unfortunately the room was very small and hot but the staff did provide a fan on request. We are a family of 5 so it was pretty tight and hot. The bathroom was also very small and we could have benefited from a full length mirror and coat hooks. However, the staff at the front desk were amazing. Very helpful and accommodating. The young man helped us source a taxi as all the taxis kept cancelling. The staff were very friendly and we could not fault them. Thank you! I did find one member of the kitchen staff to be quite aburpt when I asked for more bread as I did not speak French. The hotel is very close to the Metro which was great and although it is close to the main roads, it is set back so you do not get the noise from the neighbourhood. The hotel has many amenities close by. We had access to snacks, drinks and water all day and night. I was able to use the microwave to sterilise my baby's bottles without any hassle. All in all, we had a lovely stay but for the future, the hotel should consider bigger rooms for families Including a bigger bathroom and a full length mirror. Thank you to the front desk staff for your service and help. It was greatly appreciated.

Place to be for a Cityscape .Very friendly staff, clean modern rooms, good and varied breakfast, good location( just 3-4 min walking from the subway).They have also a cheap parking. The neighbourhood is safe, clean and not noisy at night. We enjoyed.
