Great hotel with helpful staff

Hotel ideally situated in the centre of the city. It has a car park at the rear, but this only has about 20 spaces so it is pot luck if you can get in. We were lucky during our 3-day stay as there was space when we needed it. There are parking options on the next street at Golden Square if required. Room was perfectly fine - clean and comfortable bed, great shower. Only slight issue was it took ages for the tap water to get hot. Food was excellent - we were on half board. Superb breakfast with many options for all tastes. Staff very helpful when required. Special mention for Kenneth, who went out of his way to help us when my wife couldn’t sit on the low chairs in the bar/restaurant due to her arthritis. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Great old historic hotel with great views of the park and local churches. About a 4 block walk to the train station. Good shoppi

I booked this property even with mixed reviews, because it was important to me that I got a hotel within walking distance of the train station. The hotel entrance did not disappoint me. I had booked a suite to relax. What bothered me, which I why I gave this hotel a 3, was that for the price I was paying, they installed a small very noisy space heater, because none of the main heating system was working in the 300 sf double room suite. I turned it off before dinner and after dinner it was very cold. So I went to front desk if I could be moved to a heated room and was told I would have to wait till tomorrow. I didn't sleep well over the night. The space heater was noisy and then the rooms got to hot. Today I am in a different suite where the heating is working. My question is why sell one the most expensive rooms when the heat is not working, or why not move me the same night to any room and offer a cash discount for the inconvenience. I do want to say that the evening dinner and the breakfast were very satisfactory. In moving to my new room, I noticed that the shower head was missing. Front desk advised me that on a monthly basis all shower faucets are removed and cleaned. If it wasn't for my cold suite on arrival, I would have ranked it a 5.

Too old to enjoy it.

I cannot recommend this hotel, it’s already too old and not well maintained, needs an urgent investment and renovation.

Fabulous location close to everything the city holds.

This hotel has a fantastic location. A short walk from Union st and all the other shopping areas. There are restaurants & bars in the immediate vacinity. We got a lovely welcome on arrival and were allocated a room on 3rd floor overlooking Union terrace gardens. The room was well serviced, spacious and immaculate. The bar downstairs serves drink, evening meals, afternoon teas and breakfast. Reasonably priced too. Breakfast cost us £12 pp and you could pay on the day. A great selection of cereals, juices, tea, coffee, hot and cold items. Pancakes, waffles, muffins & pastries too. An absolute treat is the fresh bread, baked on site. Absolutely scrummy. We did get some noise from the late night revellers but didnt stop us sleeping. Inside the hotel was very quiet. We would not hesitate to stop there again!!

Clean and welcoming. Didn't use the bar or eat in the hotel. It was somewhere to sleep and left early on business. There was a few buckets in the halls due to leaks, I was not on the top floor so can only assume it was from someone's room or a pipe. My only issue was the group of men stood at the main door smoking drugs! Disappointing and to be honest put me off staying in this place again, i have since been in Aberdeen 5 times and stayed in other hotels.
