The Mama Shelter is the hipper member of the Accor group, and I enjoyed staying at this hotel for that reason: friendly staff, great bar. Room was clean and comfortable, even though a bit small. It was equipped with a small desk, which was important to me for working. WiFi worked well. The lobby is disappointingly small and provides virtually no space to spend time. There is just one big table just in front of the reception. Other than that, you need to go to the restaurant / bar. Great location, just a few steps from the Jean Macé subway station, providing direct access to the station (Part Dieu) and from there to the airport. Can recommend it for anybody who wants to discover Lyon, as the direct neighborhood around the hotel is also developing nicely.

We stopped one night on the way to the Alps. Great hotel, fun vibe, food was lovely in the restaurant. Family rooms were good with adjoining rooms. Best though was the customer service. We accidentally left some shopping behind after we checked out. We hadn’t even realised at that point, the reception were very proactive in contacting us and sorting it out, and posted it back to the UK, the parcel arriving in a couple of days. Super service - thank you!!!

First time staying in a Mama Shelter and it ROCKED. All staff either on reception or at the bar were fantastic and I loved the entire aesthetic to the hotel. The room was very unique looking and comfortable with a great bathroom and comfy bed. The selection on the TV was particularly excellent, we enjoyed an evening viewing of Big Hero Six. The bar/lobby was also cool and inviting and I enjoyed relaxing there with a few beverages. Location is great for the Jean Mace Metro station as well which gets you anywhere you need to go on Lyon. I'm in a Mama Shelter again in April and now I'm extremely excited to experience this brand a second time.

Good value in central Lyon

Good city centre hotel. The bar is excellent, reasonably priced, and full of locals & guests. Rooms are functional and comfortable but of spartan design. Breakfast is v good. Well located for public transport. Would stay here again.

This hotel has a funky fun bar with friendly staff. It has a restaurant with excellent food and a great breakfast, especially the juicer (scrambled eggs and mushrooms were cold the second time though). It is let down by the rooms which are really very average and the little welcome notes, although sweet, do not change this. Bed is comfy though. My room (606)?was pretty much a disaster as it had the smell of sewage coming through from what I could gather the second sink. I mentioned this three or four times. They said they put some product in there but that didn’t help. If you kept your window open it was better and the last night the smell was so bad I had to keep my window open all night. I did ask if I could have some compensation- they would have offered free parking but I didn’t have a car, and that was it. A little gesture could have made a big difference… you would expect better when you pay over 200 euros a night. Also, Accor silver/gold/platinum members note: no welcome drink, instead an extra bottle of water and two cookies…
