Dated, under repair and not worth it

Went over for a weekend break. The location is good, but there are other properties at the same location. Construction sounds and sights dominate this hotel. We paid a premium price for this, however it wasn’t worth it. Poor staff interactions, noisy dirty rooms, sub-standard food and a complete lack of care and ownership dominated the stay. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

The Novotel Geelong is perfectly situated in the town only a few short meters from the esplanade and beautiful walks. Lovely modern room with a balcony and a mini bar. The most comfortable bed and pillows. The Novotel breakfast is superb catering for your every wish and staff are friendly in that unique Australian way. A two night stay has come to an end, thank you Novetel for a very pleasant stay.

Staff in the restaurant are excellent. On the website, it states rooms are refreshed daily. Asked for daily serving and again came back and room not serviced. With the amount of money paid, this should be an absolute minimum that the rooms are cleaned and bins emptied. No one advised us of the construction until the day before we arrived.

I am sorry to hear you were unhappy with the daily servicing of this room, this is an expectation on request and for it not to be delivered is disappointing so I am sorry about that. In regards to the construction, this is advertised on all websites and booking platforms as well as in our prearrival messaging information that comes out 1 week prior to your stay so I am sorry if you had missed that, we have attempted to be as transparent as possible. Novotel Geelong Review This hotel is definitely worth the stay! Perfect location with a beautiful sea view in Geelong. The food is delicious — I highly recommend the seafood linguine and fresh oysters. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the check-in with Tanya process was smooth. The room is comfortable, with a lovely balcony overlooking the sea — perfect for enjoying a glass of red wine while watching the sunset. It’s also conveniently located next to the beach and Westfield shopping centre. A great place to relax, escape, and heal your heart

Loud construction noise trauma

We were woken by deafening construction noise right above our room . It was traumatising and we had to escape to maintain our sanity. There was no offer of any compensation. The reception person kept saying it was on the website but I booked by phone. They should not place guests in such circumstances and I would recommend avoiding the Novotel for the duration of the upgrade. We will never stay there again.
