The location of this ibis is top. It is in the middle of the city / old town. It is easy to walk to all the attractions in the town. They have got an parking places for cars (25€ a night) in their backyard. Room was ok - but it is Ibis. It was small and very clean. There were few coat hangers in the room, when we were there. There was a place for one luggage (in a double room - 132) but no desk (meaning, if you are on the business, you have to work on the bed) We were just with the weekender bags there, so it was ok. However, I could imagine that if you are on the way with the normal sized big luggage, it could become a problem. Also there was no watter or coffee coking facilities as some hotels have got in the room. Wlan was ok.The bathroom was new and it was also very clean. However there were no toilletteries, except the simply soap for handwash and some sort of combained shampoo / body wash. You should take this in account, when you go there. Breakfast was good and it was well organzied. The both employees were friendly, polite and professional. Especial nice was that they took care of, that there were refillings for the finnished products on the offer all the time. It is Ibis and thus not compareable with the 5-star hotels. However there are some things which really annoyed me and I think those have got nothing to do with the star ratings of the hotel. We had the felxible rate for cancelations (prio 24hours). Which is most expensive rate for the room. I was really surpised at the check-in about the request that I should pay the bill immediately by the checking (however the invoice for the room was given first by the check-out and I have to request it). Last time I was requested to pay the hotel overnight stay by check- in, it was " The one and only budget hotel at Gibraltar" 25 years ago. Also they asked us, if we need the cleaning for the room. This is certainly a question, I've never been asked before. It came across that the check-in process was only about the money (The Ibis gets their money) and less about the nice experience and feeling of wellcoming. Check-out was normal ok.

We are pleased that we were able to convince you with our central location in the middle of the historic old town, breakfast and our own parking spaces! It's a pity that you only rate our beautiful corner room as ‘ok’. If necessary, we will be happy to bring more hangers to your room. The desk is the green fold-out panel under the TV. You are welcome to ask one of our friendly staff members on your next visit if you are missing anything in your room. Free coffee, tea and water are available in the lobby between 4:30 in the morning and 22:00 in the evening. If you need any toiletries, you can also ask for them at reception. It has been standard practice for several years now for payment to be made at check-in. It is a pity that you found this annoying. Unfortunately, due to our system, the final invoice is only issued when you check out - however, we will be happy to provide you with an information invoice upon payment if you wish. As we have heeded the feedback from our guests in recent years, we are now asking whether daily cleaning is required. Many of our happy guests would like to do without this. However, this is up to each guest. We look forward to welcoming you again as our guest and hope that we will be able to convince you completely. Staff very helpful and pleasant especially the breakfast workers.Buffet was good with plenty of choice.Position was great for access to Christmas Markets,shops and to restaurants nearby.Room was comfortable and clean but wardrobe space would have been nice. Easy access to most of Triers Roman sites.

Great location but unacceptable service

I stayed at this location for 9 days this December. The location was absolutely perfect. Couldn’t have been better. The ambience was cold but modern. The rooms were minimalistic, but functional . It was also clean and the bed was comfortable. Now to the bad parts. The staff was extremely rude and inattentive , ( except from one Gentleman named Markus( I think ) ). The “ Front desk” area is a joke …. It looks like an office and while checking in felt like I was applying for a job. I have never in my life ( and I travel a lot ) been treaded so rudely at a Hotel in my life! Not only was the staff rude as hell, but they were unreachable via room phone. Another turn off was… no fridge in the room, no microwave and most important no Ice machine. What hotel has no Ice Machine ? (Markus was the one employee that actually gave me a cup of ice one night ). Furthermore, the parking situation …. I was literally told the parking was 24 Euro a night but they can’t guarantee me a spot because they did not have enough parking. The rude, very limited German speaking Receptionist in training told me literally do what u need to do….what? Another incident was, I went across from the hotel to get food to go and they had plastic utensils, ( weird) so I came back to the hotel and wanted to ask for a fork at the “reception” desk and that person was glued to the computer … I seeked her attention and she never even turned around and acknowledged me…. I stood there for a good 30 seconds ….this was about 6 days in to my stay and after this incident I was disgusted …. I also left a note by my door not to clean my room and they did anyway…. Last. Breakfast was ok but again minimalistic for German standards and really just ok ! As perfectly located this place is … I will never stay there again……

The hotel is indeed very well located in the city center, which is a major advantage. However, during this busy Christmas weekend, the hotel was fully booked, and the staff seemed overwhelmed, not particularly attentive or available. It would have been helpful if both reception desks were open to minimize the wait time for check-in. The rooms are nicely decorated, very clean, and comfortable. However, there is limited storage space—no wardrobe is provided, which was inconvenient. Additionally, there were no glasses available in the bathroom. The breakfast was decent, though I was surprised to find there was no toaster available. Overall, there were far too many small details that felt lacking during my stay. On a positive note, I appreciated their pet-friendly policy. The staff thoughtfully set up a Christmas tree with plenty of gifts for their four-legged guests, which added a warm and charming touch. In summary, while the location and cleanliness are excellent, the experience could be greatly improved with more attention to detail and better staff availability during busy periods.

Nice hotel in City Center

Good hotel right in the middle of Trier. It couldn’t be any more central as it’s in the heart of the pedestrian zone. Our twin bedded room was nice and bigger than expected, although there isn’t much hanging space and no drawers. We really appreciated that breakfast was served until 11 a.m. even on weekdays.
