Easy check in and out, the front of desk staff were lovely but was just things within the room not up to standards. Upon arrival, there was previous cards left behind of the review of their stay placed on our bed which included their information and half drunk milk in the fridge, then upon showing this to reception I wanted to check that the room had in fact been fully cleaned and they said it had been cleaned as a "check out" rather than a refresh. Later on we went to shower our children that night and the body wash in the shower was completely empty resulting in us having to use shampoo as body wash. We told them this later that night as we were then going out to see the festival of lights and asked for more soap to be placed in the shower, this was then placed on the bathroom bench and not replaced in the actual shower. About midnight when we got back ready to jump into bed, we had settled our kids asleep and then went to get into the bed ourselves and upon turning it down, there was evidence of food or something being eaten in the bed as there was orange food stains evident around the top of the sheets that would of normally been against a body. This made us feel like we were sleeping in a bed that someone else had previous been slept in which felt disgusting but nothing we could do at midnight with our two young kids already asleep!! We have never had a bad experience before with the Novotel and have booked multiple times with them including this exact location but after this and despite having a rating of 4.5 stars, we have been put off considering we had spent over $250 and will no longer be wanting to stay there in this location which is a true disappoint.

What you have described is completely unacceptable. The presence of previous guests’ personal items, half-used consumables in the fridge, empty amenities, and most concerning, soiled bedding, clearly indicates a failure in our housekeeping processes. Please accept our sincere apologies for the discomfort, inconvenience, and distress this caused you and your family—particularly late at night when options to resolve the situation were understandably limited. I am especially disappointed to read that, despite raising concerns promptly, the issues were not fully rectified in a way that restored your confidence or comfort. This is not reflective of the experience we aim to deliver, nor the standards we hold ourselves to, particularly for families staying with us. Please be assured that your feedback has been escalated to our housekeeping leadership team and hotel management. A full review of cleaning procedures, room inspections, and internal communication has been undertaken to ensure this does not happen again. Guest privacy, hygiene, and cleanliness are non-negotiable priorities, and we take this matter very seriously. It is deeply regrettable that this experience has impacted your perception of this location, especially given your previous positive stays with Novotel. While I understand your disappointment, we would truly value the opportunity to restore your confidence in our hotel and our brand. We were welcomed at reception by a friendly staff member and our room was well appointed, quiet and comfortable with well stocked tea, coffee and mini-bar. We had a delicious breakfast in the hotel restaurant - the buffet had a good variety of fresh fruit, cereals and hot food. The hotel is well located and within a short walk of the main street, shops and cafes. Checkout was quick and friendly. Overall we had a lovely stay, many thanks Novotel and all the team!
