Once you finally get there, it’s worth it. The room offers space and really effective A/C, a balcony is welcome, the pool is available and overall the location is safe and well-kept. However, the check in was not as smooth as usual when you do what is required online, a bit chaotic. The regional train station is next door, so you get to the Vatican and further in no time.

Really bad experience!! I stayed in Adagio for 4 nights and I have never had such a bad experience before. As a member of Accor, I was expecting a warm welcome but instead I was informed about the tourist charges and €50 holding deposit(which I am still waiting to receive back). We were informed that there is going to be no room cleaning services and for extra towels we would have to pay more. For 4 nights, we only had 2 coffee pods in the kitchen, when I asked for some coffee pods, I was told that I have to pay for them too. Strange as you never have to pay for coffee or tea sachets in hotels!! The walls of the rooms are very thin as you can hear everything from the next room. The one thing that really shocked me is how my debit card got hacked/stolen during this stay. I started receiving notifications of multiple purchases which I never made. I had to block my card which then affected my whole trip!!

The hotel is located on the outskirts of the city approx 30 mins walk from Vatican City. Upon arrival the surrounding area looks questionable. The train station is less than 2 mins away making commuting super easy. Check in was super easy and the staff nothing but friendly and helpful. Once we started exploring we felt safe and not at all in any fear about the location - basically it’s just a bit suburban with some graffiti. The majority of shops bars and restaurants are a 30 min walk away down hill - we did not go to any closer - bear in mind what goes down must come back up usually full of pasta and wine so the walk up to the hotel may be a bit harder. The room was clean and generous in size but no toilet paper or coffee/tea - you do get cups and making facilities. We had a lovely terrace to sit out on. The breakfast was perfect and the staff always helpful and friendly. The pool was attended most days and was clean and tidy. We absolutely would stay here again.

The only thing that this hotel is able to deliver is a space to stay. Though not a comfortable one. Bathroom is cramped and lacks any option to dry towels and the ventilation is there only for the noise - steam stayed in the room for hours, unless a window is opened. There are no appliances to do a basic sweep in the apartment, so you your only resort is to book an expensive cleaning to get change of towels and a clean room. Next to it, you will hear your upstairs and side neighbours, and how they move furniture, watch TV or open and close rolling shutters. Getting a good sleep can be a challenge. Air conditioning doesn't work in April even on a very hot day, so you come back and have to deal with the stuffy air, but upon opening a balcony you see an army of red spiders ready to explore every new opening. Machines in the laundry room operate only on coins and hotel stuff is not willing to change any note with a value of more than 5 Euro. But even if you have coins, starting a machine can be a lottery and might require running to a reception to get it sorted out. Washing machines and dryer have broken buttons and screens and dryer filters are full with lint.

Just back from a 4 day break, hotel was nice, we were on the top floor but still ended up having to drag our luggage up a flight of stairs to the room, it was spacious and clean, couldn't use the balcony as it was crawling with red spiders and if the doors were left open they were in the room. In all fairness we weren't in the room much anyway, but would have been nice to have the air run through. Small fridge, kettle and coffee machine with a couple of coffee pods, really powerful shower which was good. Breakfast had plenty of choice but not soon the hot option, bacon, eggs and toast. Plenty of pastries, fruit, cereal, cheese and meats. The hotel is a fair way from anything if walking which is what we did even though the train station was next door. If walking its 40mins to Vatican city, 1hr 30 to coluseum, plenty of ways to get around but we preferred to walk and see the sights. Overall it was a good stay, but think if we did go back we'd stay possibly over the other side of the river.
