!!!It's 40oc in Rome - the pool desperately needs umbrellas!!! I booked the hotel in June after being assured by the Reception team that, despite pictures not showing shade by the pool, that there were in fact umbrellas. I've got a small child so wanted to double check after booking, the Reception then team then said the hotel pool doesn't have shade and that the hotel images clearly show no umbrellas. Given the temperatures over the summer and the likelihood of the pool attracting families I don't understand why the hotel can't invest in shade?! It's meant we'll be paying to use another hotel's pool and facilities during the hot periods of the day. Please don't make the same mistake as us!

We are glad you chose our hotel for your stay in Rome but regret the inconvenience you experienced regarding the lack of shade by the pool. We understand your concern, especially given the high temperatures during the summer. However, for the safety of our guests, we do not have umbrellas by the pool. It is located on the 8th floor and the strong and sudden winds that can occur pose a significant security risk. Furthermore, it is not possible to install a fixed awning, like the one at our bar, because the hotel is located in a historical area with strict regulations on alterations that affect the building's aesthetic appearance. These restrictions ensure the preservation of the historical integrity of the area, but we acknowledge that it can be inconvenient for our guests. We apologize for any misunderstanding during your booking process but I hardly believe that anyone from our staff could have assured shade on the pool side. We strive to provide clear and accurate information to help our guests make informed decisions. We value your feedback and will continue to look for ways to improve our facilities within the given constraints. We loved the VIEW from the roof top at the Mercure Roma Centro Colosseo! It was SPECTACULAR! Hotel was extremely well situated, easy to walk to all the main attractions. Hotel Staff were very pleasant and helpful.. We were on the top floor,, 7th Floor

Took a trip for my husband's 40th birthday. We chose this hotel for the roof top pool and location. We found the rooms quite small, and the air conditioning wasnt as cold as we would of liked. However the shower worked well and the Nuxe branded hand wash and shower gel were nice. We didnt book breakfast on our booking but we did pay for it one morning, personally it wasn't worth €17 each, we used the little cafe next door which had great offers. The roof top pool was greatly appreciated it was 37 degrees Celsius so cooling off in the pool was great. Easy to get sun loungers of a morning but not so much of an afternoon. They remove the sun lounges of an evening and put tables and chairs as an extension to the bar. We sat there on the last evening and watched the sunset, it was a perfect evening. Location is great and everywhere we wanted to go was within walking distance. I would book here again.

I was nervous about this hotel after reading several negative reviews, but my family had a really nice stay here. The rooms are on the small side but updated and very clean. The staff was helpful with reservations and restaurant suggestions. The location is very close to the Colosseum (great views from the rooftop). If you want to be in the heart of the tourism--near the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, upscale shopping etc. this hotel may not be the best option. It is about 25-30 min walking distance from these destinations. But if you are happy to be a little bit away from the crowds, and plan to spend time at the Colosseum, this hotel is well worth it. And the pool/rooftop bar were a great way to wind down after a couple long days in the heat of July!

Great location, great rooftop views and food there, service was good and breakfast was good as well. The downsides are air conditioning barely works, rooms are small and the pool is ice cold even on 90+ degree days at night. Overpriced for what you get for sure.
