You expect a certain standard of comfort & service when staying at a Mercure hotel (considering the price) and this hotel certainly fails that test when we stayed. I can't really say anything positive about the place. I would pull the hotel down (it's badly showing its age) and replace it with something Mercure can be proud of.

Renovation cannot come soon enough !

Having stayed in many Mercure hotels around the world this really was the most disappointing. The manager informed us that the hotel is due for a complete renovation as it dates back to the 60’s but that really should be stated up front when looking on line as it is really tatty. Perhaps that also explained why they asked for full payment when we checked in, our mistake to oblige. However this didn’t explain why the breakfast was so poor with overcooked frozen pastries and poor selection, they couldn’t even oblige my wife with a poached egg. Maybe give this a miss till the renovation is done !

Disappointing experience;

Although we didn't have great expectations for the Mercure because we only stayed there for 1 night, we were disappointed with this hotel. The price-quality ratio is not good. The hotel is poorly maintained, which is already visible before you enter the hotel. Garbage in the parking lot and the lobby has little atmosphere. The carpeting in the hallways is dated and dirty. In the restaurant, the windowsills are full of dead mosquitoes and flies. We had breakfast at the hotel, the food was okay. The rooms themselves are not very comfortable: rock hard beds and a rain shower with barely any water pressure. Very dirty carpet full of curious stains. We had to get toilet paper ourselves from reception; this had not been supplemented.. Very unfortunate, because the hotel has a lot of potential. The location is good. A beautiful place on the water. The hotel also has an outdoor swimming pool, which can be very nice during a (hot) day spent in the car. Excellent WiFi. We won't be coming back here again.

Good hotel and great service

Stayed in January, to break journey from the Alps to UK. About 4 hours from the Alps and 7.5 hours from Calais and not too far off a main route. Good hotel, Macon looked interesting but didn’t spend long there. Special thanks to Morgane and Romain for great service.

Good place for a short stay in Macon

Took a group of wine professionals for a three night stay. Reasonable size rooms maybe slightly jaded but comfortable. Very adequate shower room and toilet. Some rooms overlook the river and there is a very nice outdoor terrace and swimming pool. Breakfast was good but could get a little busy and the evening meal options are also OK. The hotel occupies a good position just across from the riverbank and makes a good place to explore the Southern part of Burgundy. Staff were friendly and efficient and we would certainly use this hotel again if in the Maconnais.
