Lovely wake at a great venue

We were there for a wake and Cheryl and the team looked after us so well. The food was good and plentiful. The warm scones with cream and jam were absolutely amazing. Considering the occasion we had a lovely time and felt like nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Cheryl and the Mercure.

We contacted 5 hotels in the Darlington area to host a wake for my mother in law. From the initial contact right through to the day, the staff couldn't be more helpful. We booked the afternoon tea and the quality of food was excellent, good choice of sandwiches and lovely homemade scones. The room was perfect and even when we threw a couple of last minute requests into the mix, they accommodated us with it all. Cheryl the manageress was brilliant and just wanted to make sure everything went off without a hitch.

Perfect little Break

Just got back from a 2 night stay here. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our visit was perfect. The hotel is situated in the centre of Darlington which was great for the places we wanted to explore. We met Kyle the chef who was really friendly and helpful. The room was comfy, spotless and warm. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner here which was lovely. I would highly recommend and thank all staff for an enjoyable stay x

I wouldn’t stay again

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. I found the room noisy and in places quite dirty, the head was shower broken and sprayed water everywhere, breakfast awful and some of the staff rude. I won’t be staying here again. I’m sure there are better hotels than this locally.

I went to Darlington to meet friends for a college reunion, with less than 24 hours to go they started issuing cancellations but without stating a reason, I only got in by refusing to budge but a room was available. They have been doing this apparently for a couple of months, so I cannot recommend this hotel
