Beautiful decor. Stunning rooms but very hot. Staff are really friendly and there is a Good vibe. It is one of the cheapest hotels I’ve stayed in this year but by far the most beautiful. Breakfast is lovely. This is a cool place to stay for work.

We booked here as part of wowcher deal after reading the reviews Was nervous of what we was gonna get Car park was nightmare could not get in the lovely man on Reception karl gave us direction to a nearby carpark at bottom of the street. Come meal tike the receptionist was serving on the bar and took our order Sophie brought our food out was it was lovely the Thai curry was so good And the 2 staff on worked well with each and having laugh with us Breakfast was OK hardly saw the staff we will be back again in the future

A Great Birthday Stay

Went Wednesday 25th September. Left Friday 27th September. 2 night stay for my wifes Birthday on the 26th September. We booked in just after 3pm on Wednesday and Keith was on duty. We found him very pleasant and helpful without being too intrusive He was very helpful, especially with local information. Wednesday night proved a little problematic as three issues prevented us from sleeping well. Just as we were leaving our room to go to reception on Thursday morning to report these issues we met Maria who is the housekeeping manager and explained we were at the hotel for my wifes birthday and it had been spoilt by lack of sleep. Maria was very apologetic and promised us these issues would be dealt with straight away and assured us we would have a good sleep that night. We went out and when we returned a card and bottle of wine awaited us to celebrate my wifes Birthday from all the hotel staff. Nice touch totally unexpected. We also noted all the issues had been dealt with and fully resolved. We had a good night and slept very well. We would like to say very well handled and resolved Maria, so a big thank you from us both Mike & Julie. Better not forget Keith for being so helpful. Well done Keith. In fact all the staff were very pleasant. Just a shame that full meals not available but plenty of other places in Darlington to eat. We will certainly return for another stay.

Unfortunately I had no choice but to stay here when away on business but if you have a choice AVOID! The staff are nice but the hotel is very run down, has no air con, windows in rooms are broken so don’t close, there’s so much noise from local establishments and the hotel until late at night and very early in the morning, takes ages to get served a drink at the bar when the bar is empty, rooms are not sound proof at all - you hear everything!! And it’s not even that cheap to stay here. AVOID!

Das Hotel soll ein 4* Hotel sein. Dies haben wir in keinem Punkt so empfunden: * Wir haben zwei Schlüsselkarten für das Zimmer bekommen. Eine davon ging nicht. Bei der Reklamation sagte die Dame vom Empfang: "Ja, das passiert meistens bei zwei Karten. Man muss sie zusammen codieren." Wir haben sie doch beide zusammen bekommen. * In unserem Zimmer waren bei Ankunft alle Seifen/Shampoo-Flaschen fast komplett leer. Morgens haben wir das reklamiert. Als wir abends zurück kamen, war das immer noch so. Nach erneuter Reklamation kam etwa eine halbe Stunde später ein Mitarbeiter mit neuen Flaschen und fragte uns, wie man die denn in die Halterung bekäme (bzw. die alten, leeren Flaschen heraus). Wir sagten, er solle sie einfach hinstellen. Am nächsten Abend waren sie dann immerhin richtig angebracht. * Wir waren im "Altbau". Die Heizung war entweder kalt oder sehr heiß, also nicht wirklich regulierbar. Die langen, dicken Übergardinen, die wir abends zuziehen wollten, hätten es noch schlimmer gemacht. Also kurz heizen, ausmachen und erst später die Gardinen zuziehen. * In der Dusche war der Schlauchanschluss der Brause locker und so kam das meiste Wasser nicht bis zum Duschkopf. Maintenance?? Wir konnten es selbst beheben. * Es gibt viele Fernsehsender, aber leider ist die Qualität von einigen doch sehr schlecht. Es macht nur bedingt Spaß einen Krimi zu schauen, wenn immer wieder das Bild verpixelt und es dauert, bis Bild und Ton wieder da sind. * Wir hatten mit Frühstück gebucht. Ein echter Fehler. Das Frühstück findet nicht, wie noch auf der Webseite zu lesen war, im Restaurant im zweiten Stock statt, sondern in der (sehr kleinen) Bar im Erdgeschoss. Soweit, so eng - noch okay, da wir direkt zum Beginn der Frühstückszeit da waren. Wir bestellten an der Bar u.a. Spiegeleier und Cappuccino. Cappuccino gäbe es zur Zeit nicht, die Kaffeemaschine sei kaputt. Es gab aber auch keinen Filterkaffee als Ersatz, sondern nur Tütchen mit Instant-Kaffee (!?!) und (relativ) heißes Wasser. Auch auf der Wärmekanne, auf der "Kaffee" stand, war nur heißes Wasser. Spiegeleier gab es auch nicht mit der Begründung, sie hätten keine frischen Eier bekommen. Dadurch gab es natürlich auch keine Pfannkuchen. Es gäbe nur Rührei! ??? Ein 4* Hotel, das noch nicht einmal frische Eier für Spiegelei benutzt?? Immerhin haben wir nach diesem Frühstücks-Chaos die Zusicherung bekommen, für die restlichen Tage (wir wollten dort nicht mehr frühstücken) unser Geld für das Frühstück zurück zu bekommen. Wir hoffen, dass das wirklich der Fall sein wird. Wie lange das dauert, konnte uns die Dame an der Rezeption nicht sagen.
