On arrival I spent an eternity in a queue waiting to check in. When I finally made it to Check-in I discovered why the process was taking so long. I was subject to a barrage of information I nether needed or wanted, then I am presented with a form to fill in with all my details they already have. Next to the bar for a much needed beer where I have to explain to the staff what a Lager beer is, yes, this is Australia ! My ordeal is not over when I have to return to the bar and request that my drinks are delivered the same day as I ordered them. Ever the suckered for punishment the next night, I try the poolside restaurant. This time the choice of beer is limited to one beer or a cider, whilst the staff have no idea what is on the menu they are taking orders from. On placing my order I am asked to pay for it now, did they think I was going to run off into the desert without paying? Whilst I am waiting for my food I am kept amused by witnessing food delivered to the wrong table and children being denied ice cream because there's no demand for it in the Desert. With the exception of Francesco from the porters staff who should be made General Manager tomorrow, I have never had the misfortune of staying in such a poorly run establishment. As a final warning don't dream of complaining to Reception because it appears all the staff stated working there 30 seconds before I joined the Check-in queue.

Excellent hotel but weigh up value for $$$$

This is a 5 star with a 6 star price with a feel of taken advantage of. An excellent hotel but very expensive where you have weigh up value for money? Pool was drained and maintained for our entire visit. It has to be done which is to be expected but we shouldn’t have to ask for any compensation when paying so much. We were offered dinner for 1 night which we accepted but did feel a little light. Room was lovely as was all at the hotel. Breakfast was a good quality buffet which was included in our deal. TV was on the blink on our last day and again for this price we had it explained it happens when weather is wet and over cast but again at this cost should get better. We would recommend this hotel but weigh up value for costs. Staff were excellent and you are made to special.

Sails - underwhelming old flagship hotel

We recently stayed in a superior room at Sails for 7 nights and had 3 other rooms for family booked for 5 nights. On arrival, check in took ages as everyone arrives on the bus from the airport at the same time. Only 2 people were on the desk which seemed poor given they would know how many people were coming in from the buses. All of the rooms are accessed via outdoor pathways and there was no offer of bags being taken to our rooms by the concierge. Even our 83 yr old Mum wasnt offered any assistance. Be aware that should you encounter any wet days, as we did, the hotel is very open and flat so water pools everywhere and even the steps down from the 3 room levels are open to the elements. Cleanliness and serviceability of our room was below average for the entire stay. Our room wasnt servied porperly once over our 7 nights and even though we raised this with reception it didnt get any better. Rubbish left in room, towels left on floor, bathroom consumables not replaced........even woken one morning prior to 8am with them wanting to service our rooom. Only one out of our 4 rooms we had booked ever received the advertised turn down service which was meant to be part of our booking. The hotel has basically two food offerings. The main restaurant which offers buffet breakfast and buffet dinner as well as the Pool and bar menus which were the same. The buffet breakfast was included in our nightly room rate and was great, except for the coffee service which was very much hit or miss. The buffet dinner was also good but very limiting when you are staying multiple nights, it would be good to have more choice or a la carte offerings. The reort pool is a lovey size and setting but is ironically the coldest pool I have EVER encountered. It was so disspointing not to be able to relax in the water, even though the days were around 30 degrees. Overall and given that this is the premium priced hotel at Yulara we were expecting a lot more.

Our experience at Sails was first class. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and we absolutely loved our time here. We can't recommend it enough to anyone who is visiting Yulara. It is truly a special place and we will definitely go back one day.

Nice 5* hotel in the middle of the desert.

Very clean and friendly hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Check in was easy. The room was clean and well maintained. The restaurants appear expensive but when converted to Sterling, not to bad. Pool bar okay prices and again staff friendly and helpful.
