The Ibis in Berlin is across the street from the main train station and multiple subway and tram stops. Unfortunately, this means that lots of street activity can cause the room to be noisy at night (think sirens on a major thoroughfare). Our room was tiny but functional and modern. Our included breakfast was good and allows you to squeeze your own orange juice!

Close to the railway station

We stayed two nights. Room was small. Bathroom was small but very functional. There was not service at the reception. They did not notice customers at all maybe it is germain way but it is not nice. Will not come back again. The situation was very good close to the railway station.

A Typical Ibis, Great Location

A bit on the expensive side by Ibis standards but this is Berlin which is generally more expensive all around. It is right opposite the train station hence very convenient. I was upgraded to a spacious corner room which was typical Ibis. Breakfast all across West Europe is expensive in all hotels so I never eat there. I do not wish to subsidize the carnivores with my money.

Extremely Disappointed by Lack of Compassion and Ridiculous Cancellation Fee

I booked a room at this hotel as part of a trip to Germany for an important medical treatment. Unfortunately, the treatment was unexpectedly cancelled – something completely out of my control – and I tried to cancel my hotel stay as soon as I found out. I requested a free cancellation through Booking.com and also contacted the hotel directly to explain my situation. To my disappointment, the front desk manager, Katharina, informed me that a refund was not possible and that I should proceed to cancel the room. I explained that I was struggling financially due to the sudden cancellation of my treatment, and kindly asked if it would be possible to receive a voucher to rebook at a later date instead. Again, I was flatly told no. I understand the policy of non-refundable bookings when someone simply changes their mind, but in the case of medical emergencies or unavoidable circumstances, there should absolutely be exceptions. The cancellation fee they charged was €102 – for a €110 room. That’s 92% of the total cost. Completely unreasonable. I expected much more empathy and professionalism from a well-established hotel chain like Ibis. I would not recommend booking here if there’s any chance your plans could change – especially for reasons outside your control. Very disappointing experience.

However, please allow us to point out that your booking was made via a third-party provider - in this case Booking.com. Unfortunately, our hands are tied in such cases, as both the booking and cancellation conditions are contractually regulated by the platform. The booked rate was non-cancellable and non-refundable, as was clearly indicated on the platform during the booking process. My colleague nevertheless tried to help within the scope of our possibilities, but had to adhere to the contractual requirements. We very much regret that we were unable to offer you a voucher or a rebooking for these reasons. For future stays, we recommend that you book directly through our hotel or our official website. This allows us to cater to special situations more individually and offer more flexible options.
