5 Stars – A Truly Unforgettable Family Holiday! We recently stayed at the Mecure Samui Chaweng with 10 family members, including two young kids (ages 1 and 4), and we had the most incredible experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome – always smiling, incredibly attentive, and genuinely caring. Their warmth added so much to our trip and made us feel completely at home. The accommodation was fantastic – we booked the deluxe beachside room (the most affordable option on the beachside, with no direct pool access), and it was still top-tier. The rooms were fresh, modern, and felt like they belonged to a brand-new resort. It was amazing value, especially when compared to the hotel next door, which charged significantly more but didn’t come close in terms of overall experience. The food was a standout. The menu had a huge variety, and unlike many places where only a few options are great, every meal we ordered was delicious. The kids' menu was perfect – classic favourites like fish and chips and chicken strips that were not only kid-friendly but better quality than what you'd get in most Australian restaurants. It all tasted like proper home-cooked meals. The pricing across the entire menu, including cocktails and mocktails, was very reasonable – especially for a resort. One of the most touching moments came when my partner hurt himself earlier in our holiday and needed hospital care. We had moved to another nearby hotel (which was supposed to be more luxurious)because we were doing half the stay at Mecure the over half at another resort, but to our surprise, the Mecure staff sent a care package and well wishes to the new hotel. That level of service is rare and says everything about how much they care. Our only regret is not spending our entire holiday at Mecure. The other hotel we stayed at didn’t compare – especially when it came to service. Every single family member agreed we’ll be making this our yearly go-to holiday spot from now on. Honestly, we couldn’t recommend the Mecure Samui Chaweng more highly. It was the perfect family escape.

Great Hotel with a Large Pool and Beautiful Beach

A very nice hotel with a large pool in a great location—about a 25-minute walk to Chaweng Central. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The beach is lovely, clean, and has fine sand. We were upgraded to interconnected rooms with a sea view, which was a nice bonus. Some guests mentioned that the beds were quite firm, but we didn’t find this to be an issue and slept well. Breakfast was included and offered a good selection of dishes, including an egg station. The pool is the highlight of this hotel—it’s spacious, so it never felt overcrowded. Drinks at the bar were reasonably priced for a hotel, and there was a happy hour. This is not a lively hotel with day or nighttime entertainment, but that suited us well. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

Totally different than what you see

We visited Thailand for a month and stayed in the hotel for a couple of nights. I can honestly say without a doubt that this is the worst place we stayed in. The discrepancy between what you see and what you get is unbelievable. Pool area is crowded and not welcoming, far from the vibe you want in Thailand. Rooms are no more than ok (at best). Worst thing was the staff attitude that was ridiculously rude. They argue about anything! There are much better and cheaper places in that area.

A disappointing return - don't stay in high season

I've stayed at this property several times and unfortunately it was a great disappointment. I booked well in advance in classic rooms (old building) assuming at least one room would be upgraded over to the new building. While, this did occur the room provided was clearly rarely used, had zero view and was generally a bit depressing. Similarly, one can tell the older building was closed for years during the pandemic as you can still smell the stale air with the wood. The front desk staff were very nice, and indeed had to put up with a lot of nonesense from the other guests. This is also one of the big drawbacks, at this time of year the hotel's new building was packed with low-class package tourists who really ruined the whole tone of the hotel. I felt for some of the staff having to deal with their crass and rude behaviour. Frankly, I resented that they were able to secure much nicer rooms over repeat, high-tier guests. Breakfast at both venues was disappointing and should be reviewed.

Great stay

We had a great time at Mercure Koh Samui, we stayed in the Garden wing, which is the old building, but rooms are still beautiful and well maintained. Breakfast was good with a good range of western and Thai options. The pool in the beach wing is amazing, we spent most of the time there. Cocktails of the beach bars were really good too, we made the most of the happy hour offered between 1pm - 5pm. My only suggestion would be to include more vegan options on breakfast (plant-based milk or yoghurt, diary free sweets) and restaurant menu, unfortunately we couldn’t try any of the local dishes offered there as everything had dairy or eggs, and there weren’t any tofu alternatives available. Overall we had a great stay and we will definitely come back in our next visit to Koh Samui.
