The greeting we received on arrival was not overly friendly or helpful. Whilst it was a nice view the apartment was not very clean and the sinks were blocked with hair which we had to try to clean ourselves. Dishes in dishwasher came out gritty after they were washed. The pool could use some maintenance and an upgrade as not overly nice. Sorry to have to write this but it was a little disappointing to say the least.

We booked this property based on the belief that a Mercure property claiming to be 4 stars would be really nice. What a joke. We were welcomed by unprofessional and disorganized reception staff, one wearing a truckies singlet. Neither were wearing face masks on arrival as per government health requirements. Our printed booking information stated that full payment had already been made but we were informed on arrival that it had not. I handed over my credit card to pay the $1095 for our 3 night stay only to find out that I had been also charged a premium for credit card use - no warning in advance or offer to allow me to pay by direct debit to avoid the charge. We paid for a Queen Room with ocean view - we got a ground floor room with a partial view of the harbor and rock wall. The room smelt damp. We immediately complained about the smell, but were fobbed off. We were promised that some room deodorizer would be brought to the room but it was not supplied. The laminate was peeling off the fridge. There were stained and discolored tiles in the bathroom. The bedroom and bathroom were separated by an old shower curtain. Our expectation is the a "4 star room" is serviced - we were supplied with inadequate tea, coffee and milk for even one day. It was not resupplied at any stage. We went to the shops and purchased our own tea and milk. We were supplied half a toilet roll for a 3 night stay. We stole another from the cleaners cart out side of a room. No shampoo or soap was supplied - we bought our own from the shops. On day 2 we hired a rental car. I went to reception to let them know that another car was in our car park. I was rudely challenged around why we had not rented the car through the Mercure. I was told to not worry about where I parked - to use anyone's car park - ie to sort it out myself. The Mercure is a serious hotel chain. I do not understand how you can put your name to such a badly run establishment which is really just an apartment complex, not a hotel. There are no bars, cafes or restaurants. It would appear that they are privately owned apartments being run by an incompetent management group. There are nice aspects to the complex. The location is OK and convenient for the ferry and shops. The views from other rooms would be spectacular. There are nice swimming pools. But it is being run dishonestly. It is not 4 star and it is way too expensive for what it is. Paul - Room stayed 2102 4/4/21 - 9/4/21

Good afternoon Paul Thank you for your review, we take all our guest experiences and sort the valuable contributions from the "lets have a gripe" unhelpful comments. Paul, your booking was made through head office with as is required all charges and card fees explained. For you to now turn around and suggest otherwise shows your lack of understanding, even though explained to you. Your apartment was a one bedroom ocean view and that's exactly what you got. Perhaps to satisfy your needs we should chop down all the beautiful palm tress on the island. As a "Grand Mercure" we are fully self contained apartments with full kitchens and laundries. We do not do daily services unless these are requested at time of booking and they are charged accordingly. Our housekeeping team had just finished cleaning your apartment, so the "smell" you are talking about was the freshly mopped floors, not yet completely dry. As a courtesy to you I visited your apartment when you notified me of your concern and sprayed a tropical scent deodorizer throughout the apartment. Yes, you are correct, the Island is a beautiful place, and so is the resort you stayed at, we do hope that you find your way back and look forward to having you as our guest once again.

We arrived on the island and were told there was a booking but there was no rooms. So the accor website confirmed the booking however the hotel was already booked out. As a platinum member i was disgusted this could occur . we were given no options. had no where to go. Had to leave the island and return to the mainland.

We enjoyed our stay the Unit was clean and just what we wanted for the night. It was easy to get to and well signed. The access to the ferry terminal was easy and it is well located. There was nothing more that we required it suited our purpose.

The apartment we were allocated had a blind missing in one bedroom letting in too much light. Fan remotes were missing or did not work. Main bedroom blind was crumpled. Bath had yellow stains. Second toilet and shower leaked annoyingly.

Wonderful attentive site managers. Great view and position of this harbour waterfront apartment. Let down was the inadequate fit out of the apartment e.g. limited cutlery, crockery, lounge. bedroom TV not working. Rest of apartment was quite good. Quiet apartment but well located near cafes, restaurants shops, walking tracks etc. Overall we had a great stay.

We stayed at this property because of loyalty to the Accor Brand. Our 1 bedroom apartment had a strange layout and an impractical bathroom. It was very disappointing, although there probably are better apartments in the complex. The pools are the only highlight in a very average property.I definitely wouldn’t stay there again as the Peppers Resort is a much better option,

check your booking. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment which advertises king size bed but room only had a double, advertises free wi fi but did not mention only in reception and board room, advertises breakfast when i noticed it wasn't on booking confirmation i asked about it and was told it would be extra cost $15 per person per night which was no problem till we got there and opened the fridge to find ingredients to cook your own worth about $15.00 total (cost me $60.00), blinds did not work properly so there is no privacy and could not block out light from outside it was like trying to sleep at midday, BYO toilet paper only given 1.5 rolls for two night stay, Bin was not emptied from previous guests. Overall poor accommodation at top dollar...

Apartment worn out to below two star standard. Ragged and dirty towels. Badly cleaned, after complaining, cleaned again but dust was almost only distributed. Very friendly staff at reception, even though reception was not open according opening hours.

I recently booked an ocean view room and expected the view shown in the promotional photos of the Grand Mercure Apartments with magnificent views immediately over the ocean. These apartment are literally at the waters edge. This is not what I got. There were ocean views filtered through some foxtail palms, but were looking over the waterways towards the entrance to the marina and limited ocean views with Townsville Port in the distance and with a walkway in front. I was a little disappointed, however, this did not spoil my stay. At reception I was advised to phone directly if after an ocean view apartment as shown on the website I had booked with Accor online and got what I got.

The apartments and location are amazing, and the check-in staff member was very friendly. The apartment wasn't particularly clean, with many insects on the floor upon our arrival. Nooks and crannies had obviously not been cleaned for a long time - there were spiders & cobwebs in the ensuite, very dusty skirting boards, and we found a hairclip of a previous guest amongst the dust under the couch (while looking for a Monopoly piece!). However the kitchen and bathrooms appeared quite clean. We were unable to access wi-fi during our stay, and were told this was due to the weather. We were also unable to access Foxtel. I asked about this at reception on a Wednesday, and was told somebody would come up to our apartment to fix it that afternoon. However nobody had arrived by the time we left on Sunday. Luckily you don't go to Magnetic Island to watch TV. Some maintenance is needed. Many lightbulbs needed replacement in the apartment. Also, a set of drawers was missing its handle, which we found inside the drawers. Only one of the 4 gyms had any equipment in it. Overall we had a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday, and loved the views & pools.

I love magnetic island and wanted to come back and the island never disappoints. I was a little underwhelmed by the units- they were very dirty and poorly maintained. The linen and towels have seen better days and the condition of the kitchen/bathroom/furniture is pretty disappointing. The whole unit needs a deep clean. The manager was pleasant and corrected mistakes when addressed. However the reception closes right at 5 pm despite the description on the website stating reception closes at 6 pm.

These are truely self contained apartments, 400 metres from the Magnetic Island ferry. The apartments have everything you need and there is a supermarket 300 metres away where you can purchase anything you need to make you stay comfortable. There are two types of accommodation, ocean front or setback, make sure you get the ocean front.

Great Island, not so great room.

Booked in for 4 nights. Requested sea views, got a room on ground floor with views of sun lounges by pool and sea views when no one was sitting in them. Room was very dirty and even had an old soiled rag sitting on the dining table which we hope was not used to clean it !! Rubbish still in the room from previous guests. All kitchen utensils were greasy. Gym was just a very small dirty room with a weight machine that was broken and dangerous plus some free weights. Met with other guests who were in much better rooms that cost them less because they had booked through a website and not the Accor website. I assumed as an Accor Club member I would get the best rate !?! Due to this we asked reception to move us, which they did but not very nice about it. The second room was similar to the first in size and lay out but much cleaner and had the sea view we were expecting. I stay at hotels in the Accor group for work and leisure and am usually very happy with the rooms and friendliness of staff. I have never had the need to complain in the past. Very disappointed with this place, would not stay here again.

We chose the Grand Mecure as it had apartments close to the Jetty. Check In was easy and we were left to our own devices, which was good. Apartments were clean and had good air conditioning. Pools were nice and the small gym and BBQ was useful. Really enjoyed our stay and it felt like a home away from home Only thing, and maybe it was a good thing, was that in Accor Properties as a silver member, I should have got free wifi. But, as I say, maybe that was a blessing to encourage me to switch off

Stained everything

This place was bad. We paid a premium to stay (>$300pn), and it was very poorly presented. Every tap leaked or was broker, every couch was stained and most of the pillows had stains on them. Light fightings were also broken. Overall this place has not been touched since it was built and has had no maintenance since. A really bad experience considering we paid a premium to stay.

The resort is having a lot of work done it. Customer service was excellent. The bed was average. Room very clean and view excellent. Downside, there was no bedroom door to close off from the rest of the apartment.

We booked through Accor an apartment with a king size bed. When we arrived we were allocated an apartment with a queen size bed. When we complained at reception Jeannie could not have been more unhelpful or rude. She told us there were only two apartments with king size beds and it was all Accor's fault because they had been told about this. Throughout our stay we got the same rude treatment from this receptionist. Another more senior staff member did move us after 3 days to an apartment with a king size bed but Jeannie still remained unhelpful over this move.
