Right from the start the stay got off to a bad start Asked for the gate code access the shortcut - didn’t work (had to walk around the long way) Trying to go to sleep sounded like some animal running over the roof or through the roof extremely loud At about 2am the smoke alarm in the room starts going off for no reason. I’m forced to stand on a chair to turn it off. I’m now wide awake at 2am in the morning. Not ideal. Advised the lady of the issues at checkout and got a blank look and just said ‘I guess I’ll let the maintenance team know’

Possums in the roof, no phone in room, not all light fittings working. I brought these to the attention of front desk and was offered a complimentary breakfast. Thank you. When in-room dining trays are left outside peoples rooms, they’re noisily scavenged by possums, which kept me awake. As this was a staycation, I went home and slept, and returned for the breakfast. Wouldn’t ever return to the TSV Mercure or recommend it to anyone.
