I was told at check in that there was no ramp to access my room, I had to physically lift up my 30kg suitcase, to go down the stairs. The staff member who checked me in helped me with my bag to my room. However, on checkout I had an early checkout time, to catch a flight. I had to lift my bag up on my own up the multiple stairs, to get to reception. I badly damaged my hip and lower back. I spoke with reception staff about my injury and he said that there is a ramp and was unsure as to why I wasn’t informed of this. I’m not happy at all and I’m still suffering from my injury.

Staff was nice and welcoming, smooth check in and check out, got a complementary upgrade due to my allaccor membership and I am afraid to think of the room that would have been mine if that was not the case. Rooms are super dated and worn, need an update and refresh.

For many years we have chosen the Mercure Townsville as our preferred location in Townsville. and we visit every three months now. Over time the rooms haver progressively shown their age but this time what we found was very disappointing. When we opened the door the first thing we noticed was a stain on the curtain that could have been blood. There were also stains on the mattress protector at the bottom of the bed. The mirror doors on the clothes hanging could not be opened so there was no hanging space available. Generally the room was not clean. As I always report the staff were excellent and the location is great.

Whilst up on business I was placed in one of the older rooms down the back, when entering it was aged, cracked walls and felt unkept. when having a shower the pressure was great except for the shower head that sprayed anywhere but down, this caused the towels at the back on the rails to get just as wet as me. I also could only eat one piece of pizza as it was just oily. I know it is a budget Accor property but after staying in the St Moritz in Queenstown the week before I found it hard to see it being the same Accor group. I have stayed there before and found the rooms to be well maintained, this time however was just tiring. My wife did say I should have used the members card however being a business booking it goes through the portal and I don't worry too much. hopefully some updates to the older rooms will happen soon and maybe cleaning all the dead bugs and spider webs off the entry arch. It is a preferred hotel for work so I will probably be staying there again in the near future.
