Pulling into the entrance, I'm immediately relaxed. This is my fourth visit in 12 months. There's something quaint about the location and the friendly staff. A beautiful sunny day when we arrived, showed off the tranquil surroundings of this hotel. The staff here are always friendly and it's always nice to see some familiar faces (Yes Linda I mean you too). Whenever I travel to this part of the world, this hotel is my goto. Always a relaxing stay.

One word. TERRIBLE. A group of us came to enjoy the sun a few drinks and some food. Food orders came out in stages although ordered together. Ordered 3 ‘small bite’ plates along with pizza and chips. Pizza came first and about 20 mins later the rest arrived. Order taken at the bar and then waitress came out to us to tell us they did not have one of the small plates we ordered, changed it again for her to come out again and tell us they did not have that either- they ended up bringing us a bowl of fish fingers and chips. Another couple we was with ordered Katsu chicken burger in which the chicken was raw. Not a little undercooked it was raw. Would not recommend food here which is a shame as the grounds are so lovely.

I went to the mercure for a business meeting. The staff are lovely. Really friendly and efficient. A special shout out to Linda who served us, she was amazing! Nothing was too much trouble and it was service with a smile throughout! She is a credit to the hotel. Max & Noel

The staff are great and super friendly couldn't wish for better, Linda and the breakfast team served up a lush brekky. Room comfy & clean. Internet / WIFI is really crap (this really needs sorting out its that poor cant even read emails or browse the internet!!!). plenty large enough car park.

My wife won a raffle prize which was for an afternoon tea at the Grange Park Hotel. When the afternoon tea was booked the receptionist was informed my wife is Coeliac and I e-mailed them the morning of our visit. Great, or so we thought. We were offered either tea or coffee on our arrival and were soon joined by another couple who sat nearby. That lady clearly told the member of staff that she was Vegetarian and we struck up conversation concerning dietary issues. The other couples afternoon tea soon arrived but it included ham and prawns so it had to go back to the kitchen. Ours arrived soon afterwards and both mine and my wife’s were on the same platter. Clearly the chef wasn’t aware of contamination. The gluten free food was pointed out to her with an apology as they had no gluten free scones (despite being given 2 reminders). I had drunk my coffee but from that point we didn’t see any other members of staff in the room. After about half an hour, we had all finished most of the food but still hadn’t been offered any further drink, either complimentary nor to purchase, so we all 4 left and didn’t speak to anyone. Fortunately we hadn’t paid the cost of around £45. To add insult to injury, later that evening I was violently sick. Hey-ho, never again, even if it’s free.

Dear Malcolm I am sorry we got your afternoon tea so wrong. Afternoon teas are so very special and have great delight in looking after these every day, I am sorry we did not plan yours with greater care. Kind regards David
